Why does everyone want a Halo 2 remake?

I don't wanna be a jerk but seriously just because Halo CE has one doesn't mean that all a sudden Halo 2 will have one. I liked Halo 2, in fact I loved it but I just don't think it should make people this desperate over a game. All I'm saying is most likely Halo 2 won't have a remake.

 • A remake would only work if it had the original MP instead of a map pack for the latest Halo game.

 • I miss this game so much. There are tears in my eyes as I listen to "Blow Me Away", Breaking Benjamin.

 • CEA was a great idea. Upgrade the graphics to try to draw in the "Released in the last 2 seconds" crowd, while fan servicing the die hards. I'm not sure it worked for the aforementioned, but, as an original Xboxer, was thrilled to see the achievement challenges. Actually added new playing time to a game I (thought I) knew every inch of years ago. If only to "prove" my 2 chops, would absolutely embrace anything new and 2. Yes, there were minute tweaks, but similar tweaks for 2 would be bearable. (Or at least an on/off switch for armor abilities, etc.)

 •
Posted by: InvasionImminent I don't care what anyone says, Halo Anniversary edition was a failure. It failed its purpose to reignite interest of CE into the Halo community and ultimately added nothing except better graphics and skulls. Online coop is burdened with extreme bouts of lag and is practically unplayable. What I'm getting at is if Halo 2 is going with the game plan that CEA went with, then I'd rather not waste $60 on a game I already have. That said, if a H2 remake would arise, it would need features that would positively impact the game, not just attract stray fans.
All it really did was make CE more noticeable. Most would have just ignored the game if CEA didn't come out. You know when a game has failed when it fails to impress the die hard CE fans and pros.

 • Wow a lot of replies on this thread, anyway in my eyes Halo 2 would just become another game that no one plays, I don't know say maybe a day at the most they play the game and then after a while they just throw the game into the pile of other games that they don't play any more. Yeah I would love a Halo 2 remake, but when I bought Halo CE anniversary I thought it was gonna be a great game, but I was really disappointed because after that it was just a remade game without the things you love from it. Glitches, Old multiplayer, having friends over to play Halo all night all that stuff, but it just wouldn't work in my eyes tell me if I'm wrong, but it's just my opinion.

 • In my eyes, Halo 2 is still the best Halo game. Judging from the direction 343i is taking the Halo franchise, I have a strong feeling that it shall hold the title of "Best Halo Game" -in my eyes at least- indefinitely. Everything about it was amazing. Sure, people say the campaign felt unfinished -and it was-, but I still think it had the strongest campaign of any Halo game. It was, well, mature. When Halo 2 came out, I was a youngin' and couldn't fully comprehend the depth of the story that Bungie was conveying through the game. I replayed the campaign at a slightly older age, and to this day am still blown away by it. Obviously, the multiplayer was of equal, if not more, importance. The gameplay is simply the best out of any game in the series. The weapons were a blast to use, the maps were immaculately designed, and everything was just fun. Heck, even the skill system was awesome! It was a system that rewarded players based on their skill, not the amount of hours you pumped into the game. I could really go on for ages about why I consider Halo 2 to be the best Halo game, but I'll cut my ramblings short. So, what do I think of re-releasing Halo 2? I'm torn; I truly am. Yes, I want nothing more than to play this game over LIVE again. Halo 2 Vista is fun, but not quite the same as Halo 2 for the Xbox. However, what I want is a carbon copy of the game: same gameplay, physics, gun damage, maps, etc. The only thing I'd want upgraded would be the textures. The problem with this is simple: a remake/re-release won't be done this way. They'll find some way to 'upgrade' it. They'll put in armor abilities, or sprinting, or try to bolt on new features that take away from the game that I love. Those features belong in certain games, but not Halo 2. I fail to see why people claim that Halo needs to 'Get with the times'. What does that even mean? Is borrowing elements from different games 'getting with the times'? I don't care that games borrow concepts from one another. I'm not going to cry foul because I can sprint in both Call of Duty and Battlefield or choose a specific load-out. Those are great concepts! However, Halo is supposed to be an arena-style(ish) FPS. You should be able to spawn and know that you're on the same playing field as everybody else. It doesn't matter that the guy across from you has been playing the game for over one-hundred hours and you just started. *sigh* I'm really rambling on. I've got to congratulate people who actually took the time to read through it all! I can't stress enough that these are simply my opinions!

 • I'm hoping for a anniversary release in the same vein as Halo CE Anniversary, with the core gameplay remaining the same.

 • Given how 343 remade H:CE, that is to say they only updated the graphics and left the engine, H2 would be a great candidate for that. I do miss H2's multiplayer, and if a remake can bring it back, there's nothing quite wrong with it. It might not be as expansive as recent games, but an HD remake is anything but bad news.

 • You're alright, Wilis. You bring a smart and even handed approach to all this fanboyism. What makes Halo better than Gears and its contemporaries...Investment. I really felt like I was Chief in CE. When I died as Marcus, was like, eh, I died, this part is hard. Dying as Chief though, was like, "I know I can get through this..." The suspension of disbelief is what separates Halo from its "competition."

 • because it will be the only game in the series with a good sword assuming 343i will always hold on to the Halo franchise (thought they would have learned after Halo Reach but sadly, no)

 •
Posted by: Sliding Ghost Uh I didn't say anything about liking the gameplay. I even said Legendary was just noob comboing. Anyways, I agree, Halo 2 did have the better skulls. And campaign maps weren't tarnished by excess invisible barriers and low ceilings.
Posted by: Wilis_kid Look at H2V as an example, the glitches were fixed, even the fun ones like the super bounce which will likely be fixed in the updated version. To add to this theory, CEA was based on the updated Halo PC, which then implies the same may be said for Halo 2 (although raw gameplay will be left untouched). I'd love for a remake/updated version but it definitely won't be the same experience as it was before and chances are, it will probably get old quickly and see the player count drop fast too. In that sense it could be successful since the servers are tied into the 360's LIVE network and therefore it won't cost M$ anything to leave it on for the hardcore fans. But it's population would still probably rapidly decline unlike CEA which had they included the original MP with working netcode, probably would have stayed far longer since it would have been a whole new experience. EDIT - I gotta give credit to whoever read this whole post xD
That'd be a pretty damn stupid decision. Yeah a re-release might be better than an update after all. I couldn't quote the whole thing. 0_0
I know, the gameplay was aimed at another user but open for debate for everyone who said it had the best gameplay in the series. I understand you're more for AI collections and manipulations and respect that :) Yeah the game barriers in future Halo games really killed it for me. I loved exploring Delta Halo or just manipulating the games to go to places Bungie hadn't intended :) You couldn't quote it? Wow, the original post was bigger than i thought xD

 • I think that halo 2 should not be remade but to be brought out again because it has good story line and its epic Epic to play as the arbitor and masterchief even though you do play as him in nearly every game. I see what you mean about remaking ce I dont know how to explain it though

 • I would want a remake of halo 2 because even though the story was so long it was pretty fun and they should also make map packs like lock out and waterworks and being able to go through the story with a buddy over xbox live sounds fun.
