[/quote] Technically it can run on XP, but you won't be able to play on Live. Officially & legally, you can run Halo 2 Vista on Windows Vista, 7, and even Windows 8 while still maintaining Live functionality. However, Halo 2 Vista is known to have compatibility issues with Windows 7. It kind of depends on numerous factors if you'll be successful in running it on Windows 7. However, from what I've observed so far, Halo 2 Vista works great on Windows 8 (Release Preview) and no one I know has reported any problems when it normally wouldn't have worked in Windows 7 for them. If more people could try Halo 2 Vista out on Windows 8, it'd give more accurate results in determining if Windows 8 somehow fixes all the problems. Anyways, like someone else said, Halo 2 Vista was intended to be a Vista-exclusive because it would've hopefully helped Vista to sell and get more people to adopt Windows Vista. Now if Halo 2 Vista was a DirectX 10 game, then it would've been understandable if it was a Vista exclusive since XP doesn't support DirectX 10.

  • It's not on XP because Microsoft wanted to use it to sell Vista. That's all there is to it, really. [Edited on 08.10.2012 12:43 AM PDT]
