BungieCon: Possible future?

Just a little bit ago in Burritosenior's thread about meeting up in the Mideast/Midwest, someone suggested a BungieCon. Obviously it was just a thought someone had but it's a good one. Why not have a specific event JUST for Bungie? Maybe 343i and Bungie? I've noticed that events like ComicCon and PAX are selling out quicker than you can click on the page, and the sad fact is there are just too many people wanting to attend. So why not have an event with a little closer group? Bungie.Net has always been a bit of a family atmosphere, at least that what Bungie it seems has tried to set up, so why not have an event SPECIFICALLY for Bungie.net members? Does this limit the crowd? Sure. But it also would help make this community into just that, a community, and not just a random barrel of gamers. Still. There are well over 100,000 users on this sight. Active ones. Now imagine a ticket for a three day pass costing $50. if ONLY 100,000 attended, that'd be $5,000,000 in Bungies pocket alone. Obviously there would be costs. Say even $3,000,000 worth. But that still $2,000,000 for Bungie. That 2 million dollars into a new IP, or the next trilogy. Or into more employees. or into new equipment. We, as a community, could single handedly make Bungie one of the best funded Game developers in the business, and thus, help them make better games. I realize this is all a bit of a stretch, getting everything right, setting everything up. This even takes time away from Bungie doing what they do best; making games. But it would help build a the oh so solid fan base into an even stronger, more connected fan base. What say you, Bungie community? [Edited on 08.06.2012 7:35 PM PDT]

Are you agreeing with me that Activision already does this with Blizzard, so why not Bungie? Or are you saying that Activision doesn't take a majority of the profits from Blizzcon, so they probably wouldn't with a "BungieCon" either?

 •
Posted by: jyrine
Posted by: SPRTN One One 7 It would be neat if there were multiple ones at the same time. BungieCon East for the East coast, BungieCon West for West coast and BungieCon Midwest in Chicago for everyone else. Older B.net users could organize something. The west coast users can organize it in Seattle Mid west in Chicago East coast in Wahington D.C. What do you think about that?
I can dig this. And someone said that 100,000 is obscene. Well at first it is, but think of PAX, how many attend? You get my point.
Good point, but you need to remember that PAX is a cultural icon, whereas Bungiecon would still be too new too. Bungie might have the fanbase, but the con itself would take a bit to get people to actually start going every year. I could definetly see this becoming a big thing for Bungie though.

 • Burrito rarely starts a thread but once it happens its always good. I think we run into a issue of where to locate it and attendance. How many could actually come... I think if there ever was one it should be Just after the launch of the new IP as a celebration.

 • I think if rooster teeth can have a con, Bungie should be able to. There are a lot of people and groups connected to Bungie that there could be a lot of things there.

 • I would love to go if they had something like PAX or Comic Con I'd try my hardest to go. There are a ton of people here I'd love to hangout with and get to know better and plus Bungie kicks ass so I bet Bungie Con would kick ass as well.
