Would you be fine with a Halo 2 Anniversary?

Think about this for a second before you blindly say yes. If 343 Industries announced that they are going to be remaking Halo 2 just like they did with Halo Combat Evolved, would you be fine with it? There would be new graphics, new music, as well as either Halo Reach or Halo 4 multiplayer.

 • Who wouldn't want Halo 2 Anniversary? I mean I'd prefer it if they put the actual multiplayer in instead of Halo 4 multiplayer for Halo 2 Anniversary, but I'd be more excited for the updated graphics in Halo 2's campaign. Also I'd love it if they added an extended campaign featuring the levels Bungie was forced to cut due to time constraints. That would be epic. [Edited on 07.15.2012 7:21 PM PDT]

 •
Posted by: Ghost Unknown I'd be fine with it so long as it is a (more or less) 1:1 upgrade like CEA was, with the exception that native Multiplayer be included this time. The problem is, if they include native multiplayer it could steal Halo 4's multiplayer thunder. Given that Halo 4 will probably have a player progression system like Reach, the chances of H2A having native multiplayer are looking pretty slim as they'd want you to invest your time in Halo 4. It would have to be released at least one and a half years after Halo 4 not to disrupt their Halo 4 multiplayer plans. EDIT: This could also be a good chance to implement the features Bungie wanted to initially ship with Halo 2, like replays and (I think) Forge, which would only serve to enhance the core experience.
This would be great, but I believe that 343i are making a trilogy, so it could be quite a while until an improved version of Halo 2 could be released at a time where it wouldn't interfere in the sales/activity of their main games. • With a good campaign and co-op, yes. As long as they didn''t make it a "thing"; I wouldn't want a Halo 3: Anniversary in 2017 on a future Xbox console.

 • Well it's already being Rumored (nothing confirmed but it's very possible.) Hopefully 343 would realize the driving force of halo 2 was it's multiplayer so they'd focus heavily on it, keep it true to the original....we'll see.

 • As long as they simply revamped the visuals to take advantage of the newer technology, and altered/modified NO canonical elements whatsoever, I don't see the harm in it.

 • Yes. Absolutely. Considering when it would come out, it would be the first Halo on the 720. And it would come out as a 2nd generation 720 game; Halo 5 won't appear until the third generation much like Halo 3. Plus it wouldn't really hamper Halo 5's release because MS would again have the majority of the art assets done by other studios making the impact on 343i minimal. And consider this- it would be the first Halo of that console so MP wouldn't just be Halo 4 w/ H2 map packs. The reason (aside from dividing the player base) that H:CEA used Reach MP is that H1 didn't have an online component and wasn't built to handle lag. H2 they could essentially port straight over if they wanted. And as of this time Halo 2 is still the best Halo multiplayer ever played on XBL (who knows if Halo 4 will surpass it). So considering it would be a complete reskin of Halo 2, mp and all, at $60 it sounds well worth the money.

In that case, I would have to disagree, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

 • Yes, but only if they don't change a bunch of stuff and it plays like the original did, right down to the glitches. [Edited on 06.26.2012 7:02 AM PDT]

 •
Posted by: MisguidedDrake4
Posted by: Flaming Skullz Only if it is an updated version of Halo 2. That means new graphics and new soundtrack (both being able to change to classic), and an updated version of Halo 2 multiplayer. If they just dump it with Halo 4 multiplayer, I'm not buying it.

an updated version of Halo 2 multiplayer

an updated version

updated
No. Because update will mean changed engine (like CEA MM running on Reach's engine) which means changed spawns (spawn system embedded in H4 engine or whatever they'd use) and possibly the removal of button glitches. Any or all of these things would detract from the greatness of the game.
Your username supports this post. CEA did not utilize the Reach engine, it was the original's engine, with Reach's skins.

 •
Posted by: Multijirachi CEA was great fun, but no thanks to the added skulls. I liked it due to the nostalgia. H2A would be a much tougher job, as the Multiplayer needs to be perfect. And they can't make a slip up like they did on The Library again.
This. The added skulls didn't quite fit in. Pinata was pretty much hax in a game where cqc can be very effective. Bandanna was also leet. Grunt Funeral, oh boy. Also, the game can't support a large number of grenades so it starts deleting them. This could have been much bigger, not that it matters since the blood splatter/explosions isn't very impressive in the new graphics. I like to think of that as an intentional easter egg but the viewing through geometry lends credence that it was a mistake. And yeah, H2 Anniversary must be done better. More time should be given to it than it was with CEA. And of course, the skull menu should not be like in CEA. I want to be able to turn on/off skulls at any point in the game without having to restart. It was like this in the original H2 after all. If there's not going to be campaign scoring, then I don't see the point of this. If it's because of achievements, that is -blam!- lame because I didn't even bother with those. I like making my own challenges. Finally, Theater is an absolute must. I hate having to upload crap videos all because I can't afford a HD capture card. If CEA had theater, I could just link people to the files so they could watch in better quality from their Xbox 360s. [Edited on 06.05.2012 11:01 PM PDT]

 • Eh, I don't know. I guess it would be fun. Although I don't really want them remaking a bunch of previous Halo titles. I want new Halo games. Not updated versions of older games.
