The campaign sucks

The only playable level is Delta Halo but even that one sucks compared to Halo: CE and Halo 3's levels. Halo 2's levels are mostly dark and full of flood. And you have to play as the enemy 50% of the time which makes it even worse.

 • Yep, Halo 2 is pretty fail guy that afraids of good story, good gameplay, and good level design.

 • While Halo 2's campaign is my least favorite out of 1,2, and 3's, I wouldn't say it sucked. It just didn't draw me in as much is all.

I defend H2, I get wasted. I try to sympathize with H3, share campaign treats, and I get insults. CE forum is the only place on here for me. [Edited on 05.02.2012 6:27 PM PDT]

 • Halo 2 and 3 aren't really known for their campaigns. I enjoyed 3 more than 2 on a first playthrough, but don't really enjoy going back to either to be honest. I prefer Halo 3 just because of the slow motion cinematics of Cortana and gravemind and the soundtrack. edit: didn't realize I already made posts here. [Edited on 05.01.2012 7:14 PM PDT]

 •
Posted by: Legendx713 How is walking away from a destroyed AA gun better than coming out of a destroyed Scarab?
You have no argument. In Halo 3 we could destroy several Scarabs. While we couldn't destroy a single one in Halo 2! [Edited on 05.01.2012 3:17 AM PDT]

 •
Posted by: Legendx713 Agreed. I think the storyline was pretty cheesy and the AI flat out sucked. It didn't have the epic feel that Halo 3 had.
How is going out into space and delivering a bomb not epic? How is walking away from a destroyed AA gun better than coming out of a destroyed Scarab? How is having the pleasure of killing a Prophet then immediately being threatened by Covenant glassing not epic (though I admit the actual battle wasn't that good)? And if the AI sucked, then why are H3 Jackal snipers so easy to detect and kill and H3 Brutes so easy to stick with grenades, beat down to death, assassinate, noob combo, etc. The room with the eating Brutes is easy if you have bubble shields. Any place with Arbiter means Death. And hoarding equipment ensures easy victory. H3 Brutes may dive from plasma pistol overcharges but H2 Elites had higher numbers and better evasive movement and provided suppressing fire making it difficult to get a headshot after the overcharged bolt hit. • Meh. Not a huge fan of either campaign. I didn't really finish either campaign till this year despite having Halo since 2005. I really don't find anything compelling about Halo 2. Grave mind looks retarded in Halo 2 and sounds dumb. IMO

 •
Posted by: kosen13 To me, It felt like the ending to Halo Two was basically saying "To be continued"....Except fading to black without actually ever saying "To be continued".
It was. They had to do that because they didn't have the time to complete it. Absolutely everyone that knows the story of Halo 2's development knows for a fact that Halo 2/3's campaigns were originally meant to be one but due to time restraints they had to leave Halo 2 with a cliffhanger ending. You could even tell it was rushed. Halo 3's ending at least felt paced. The normal ending left the story at a point where it could easily pick back up again or just die off. It did bring some closure to the Covenant war and that specific conflict. The legendary ending however left you knowing there was definitely something on the horizon for Master Chief to face but it wasn't the same challenge as before. It was the end of one story then a teaser to another.

 •
Posted by: Dr Syx
Posted by: ajw34307 Halo 2 wasn't supposed to provide closure, it's the bridge to Halo 3 - its primary job is to raise the questions/plot points that need answering.
It was originally supposed to provide closure and you still can't count it as being a positive for Halo 2 over Halo 3. People were extremely upset over the ending to Halo 2 because of this. Hell, I didn't even feel like Master Chief progressed much in the story at all and I'm not alone in that. I had an absolutely hollow feeling at the end of Halo 2. It didn't leave me excited; it left me pissed off. Halo 2 wasn't designed to do this. It wasn't a grand scheme in Bungie's design for the trilogy. It was a screw up. They didn't have enough time to finish it so they gave us all they had completed and began work on Halo 3. You can't use closure as a negative on Halo 3 when Halo 2 didn't have it. Definitely when it was meant to have it.
To me, It felt like the ending to Halo Two was basically saying "To be continued"....Except fading to black without actually ever saying "To be continued".

 • You know, I laugh to myself every time I see a thread like this pop up. 99% percent of the time they are created by green members who have been spoiled rotten by modern, garbage story telling and game play that caters to the casual. It's not completely their fault, they just don't have an appreciation for games of high quality and effort. I guess not every game and game Almost falling off an edge and Explosions that make you screen blur for epic EPIC?!?! effect.
