Gas

My wife works at a Sam's Club, which also happens to have a gas station. Tomorrow morning when they open they will be charging 3.59 for a gallon of regular unleaded. It was 2.59. Apparently hurricane Katrina is to thank for this. Hopefully Sam's is an exception or just overreacting, but don't be surprised if you have to pay out the ass for gas starting tomorrow.

 • Where we live, the gas is like CDN$1.049 litre, or the equivalent to about $3.35 US per gallon.

 • The gas stations have nothing to do with it. It's all about supply and demand. The demand is high right now, and supply is low... which equals high prices. Its basic economic sense. There's no great conspiracy behind it. And stop linking all your statements so you can pretend that you're a mod. Edit:Which, in turn, would stop you from spamming a site, which is against the forum rules. [Edited on 8/31/2005]

 • every one needs to boycott the gas stations so they lower the prices not that that will ever happen. the sad part is they know thay can get away with it because we all depend on gas.

 • Here's a fun story: (I live in Maine) -- Last night I put 9 dollars worth of super at $3.20 a gallon into my car at the Mobil across from where I work. (When I fill up my tank, I use regular, but when I'm only putting it less then 10 dollars to get home, I use super). This morning, I drove into work and looked at Mobil's new and improved prices: it was $3.24/gallon ... for regular. That's the cheapest I've been able to find it up here, right around $3.25. Edit: I drive a Buick Regal Coupe at 20 mpg. [Edited on 8/31/2005]

 •
Posted by: AcidAd Rock
Posted by: S7RIKER Well, no one is really going for quality of the car, but the looks. Now that they jacked up the prices, people are now looking for economic friendly vehicles.Or you could drive your SUV that costs you over $100 a week less
I bought the jeep in 2002. Gas prices were reasonable then. Usually I'll take my Girlfriends car when possible. but it still costs me and arm and a leg. this was just on a news station. Katrina crippled 95% of gulf's oil production, one of the reasons why gas has gone up. the gulf supplies the US with 30 % of it's oil and petrol supply. also, president bush is opening up the US emergency oil reserves to help keep prices low...
ha.. President bush owns most of the oil in this country and has tieins with most if not all oil coming into the country this is all just a ploy to increase his wallet size. gas has been going up slowly ever since he took office now he has an excuse to drive it up the butt. • we should put more money into the changing our infrostructure to allow the production of hydrogen cars both versions fuelcell or burning produce heat + water as the waste (ford has a pick up that burns it, GMC has hydrogen fullcell cars running in DC) hydrogen + oxygen + fuelcell = energy + heat + water(h20) and getting hydrogen isnt that hard, use a reverse fullcell to separate hydrogen-oxygen, can use solar panels, windmill, or nuke power to do that (a hydrogen tank is as safe as a gas tank)

 • And to all those people that said bs its just price jacking. to an extent you are correct. However there is a reason. The gulf produces 25 percent of the united states oil, and every oil rig out there was evacuated of workers, thusly we have been loosing 300 million or so gallons of oil (mabye it was barrels) each day they have been out. and now that they are going back it will be another few days before the workers can asses damages and begin refining the crude oil again. So 25% of our oil is down for about a 5-6 day period. I call that reason to jack the prices, weather I like it or not. and I dont. I figure around october the expensive prices are sosposed to drop. and That gas stations is overreacting the gas stations were dirrected to raise the price nationally 50 cents from 2.50 or what ever it happens to be at the station to 3.00 or whatever. jumping a dollar is an over reaction and price gauging from the gas station.

 • Canada, the Unspoiled America. I love Canada, one of the most beautiful places on earth.
Posted by: free tibet The average price of petrol in the UK is around 90p per litre. That equals about £4.09 per gallon, so that's pretty expensive compared to what you guys pay!
$4.09 a gallon?! Damn...don't know what to say lol.
