I find that the only comforting way for me to fall asleep is for there to be no light at all and to hear the sound of my ceiling fan and humidifier.
When I was younger, even as a teenager, I felt like my house was "haunted". I couldn't go to sleep unless my bedroom door was wide opened, a nightlight on (yes, a nightlight) and music playing.
Now that I'm older, married and a parent, I've realized that I still need that sound (at least a fan) but I want it pitch black. Perhaps I feel more comfortable in the dark because I'm not alone.
I also, more times than not, fall asleep while softly rubbing my feet together. Weird, I know.
What about you?
What's comfortable to you when trying to fall asleep?
What are your before sleeping habits?

Personally, I hate total darkness while I'm trying to sleep. I like to be able to see at a little in the room I'm in. I need a fan of sorts too.
