So I haven't played Destiny for two months...

Can somebody enlighten me as to what a "vanguard commendation" is and why there are Roman numerals on stuff? Also if anybody wants to join me, that would be appreciated. Level 29 warlock currently doing the "Siege of the warmind" from Eris. GT: RaShaka19 Thanks

Commendations are a time sink material. You get one from leveling up your vanguard faction. The Roman numeral means it's from the dlc.
