Is your Destiny class part of your identity?
Why?
Why do you talk about hunters/titans/warlocks as though you associate yourself as one of them? Some people actually get angry about insults directed at a class. Dude... You're not a hunter. You're a person playing a video game. Unless you've somehow found out a way to turn invisible or hold unlimited throwing knives in real life.
Anybody else find this all really weird?

I don't but it would be awesome if had the power to teleport and fire a energy blast.

It's not Destiny, it's people. Tell someone their music sucks or their favorite football team sucks. You get the same reaction.

It's a known fact that many people become attached and devoted to something they like or spend time with. That's where console wars come from. Scientists discovered that people react to offences against their favored console just like for a girlfriend. I guess the same applies to favorite games and preferred gamestyles. No flaws, everything is perfect.

Not really keep in mind: A good chunk of the player base is under 18 meaning that they haven't really blossomed into their future so for them all they have is the game and they don't see how silly it sounds to treat a Video game with such passion. I'm 31 married and see the warlock I play as an action figure more than me but having a career and mate will keep you grounded in reality.

i could see my character being an extension of me. in some form or another. no i cant shoot nova bombs or drain life but its cool to think your character is some manifestation of you.

I would say our class choices are very much influenced by our personality. I am big guy and have always gravitated to the Soldier/Warrior/Titan classes in all games with classes.

I think we all pick our class based off of our personalities. And we spend so much time grinding with the custom built classes that we almost gain a bond. Like they are an extension of your body. So of course people get but her when you insult their class. Because you are insulting them. People fight over football teams. And that's just something you watch. This is something you control.
