Destiny In Real Time

I've found out an interesting thing about destiny. So, recently I've been watching an anime called, Log Horizon, a popular "stuck in a video game" show similar to Sword Art Online. And in one point of the show they talk about how one character has been in the game world for 96 years or so. But in the real world the games day/night cycle is 2 hours, which with some math adds up to about 8 years and several months according to the show, the time the person spent playing the game. Lost? Don't worry I'll move on to the important stuff. This led me to thinking, how long has it been since we've been in the world of Destiny? The game was released on September 9th, 2014, and the day I am writing this is January 4th, 2015 (at 12:03am so, the 3rd just passed). That means the game has been out for 117 days. From the information I've gathered (and not playing at all to check) the day/night cycle in the tower is 1 hour long. And assuming there was one constant tower whose day/night cycle never changed we can believe that one hour in real time is 1 day in game. Which means, 24 days of game time pass in one full day of real time. By now I believe you already know the math. 24 x 117 = 2808 days. Quite a bit of time, but let's put that in perspective. 2808/365 = 7.7 years. In Game Time has been over seven and a half years. Our Guardians have been alive that long, and battling back the threat of the darkness coming close to a decade. To some of you this might not be that interesting or exciting, but for me it gives a little perspective as to what the game would be like if it was real. Here's some other fun time related items: VOG: beaten in 10 days, world first. CE: beaten in 6 days, world first. Eris Morn appeared almost 6 years after the first day in the tower. Iron Banner stays in the tower for roughly 168 days. Xur appears every 120 days and only stays for 48 days. (Quite a long time if you ask me)
