PvP Class Rankings
So I am really tired of all of these "<class> is OP" topics and I decided to do something about it. This is something Bungie should be doing and addressing, but they clearly have not so I wanted to see what would happen.
I pulled the top 100 players for each class (Titan, Warlock, Hunter) that have played at least 200 games in the crucible and looked at their KTD ratio. The numbers are staggering.

Hunter 3.90
Warlock 3.24
Titan 3.14
Now remember, this is the top of every class, and only players that have a significant amount of time played in Crucible. The top 100 for each class and played at LEAST 200 games. The numbers pretty much speak for themselves.
And before anyone complains that I used KTD ratio, remember that all game types in Destiny are kill based, even control. Because of unimaginative PvP design, KTD really is the most important metric. Kills gain you points, deaths gain the other team points. Always.
Discuss amongst yourselves.
Edit: I think I'm done with this thread. I had good intentions to help inform with actual data but people just suck. Feel free to keep talking is you wish, but every single person that has complained is a Hunter main. Go figure. There really isn't a point anymore. We know Hunter's are more powerful in PvP than the other classes. It's just fact at this point and we have to live with it. Not a big deal. Happy Holidays!

6 RepliesInteresting numbers. I've never felt underpowered using my Lock against top tier players, but I can tell you that they're definitely all Hunters. There's also some numbers of the entire playerbase [url=http://destinytracker.com/destiny/population]here[/url], which are quite interesting. Gunslingers have the higher K/D by far, but after that it's all fairly even.

Makes sense. Golden gun is unreal, it's the smartest PVP oriented class. But I like my warlock ;)

I could probably run a few stats analyses when I get back to school. Also, I bet Bungie did run these numbers and probably found what I expect to find. I think another way to look at the numbers would be to compare different classes that those same players use. For example, does Titan #36 have a similar KD with his alternate character? Do Hunters and Warlocks play the same amount of hours? What else could make a difference? Lol sorry for being such a nerd

6 RepliesHonestly, there are only three usable PvP classes. 1. Bladedancer 2. Sunsinger 3. Striker Titan Others fall short in my opinion but I cant see how any of those are superior. All of them have their stenghts and weaknesses. Bladedancer super is a distraction. A good way to make a push. They are weak and get killed way too easily. One shotgun shot is all it takes. Talk about OP right?

I believe that based on supers alone. Hunter supers are way easier to multiple kill with. That's not even taking blink and etc into consideration. I have all 3 classes and my hunter is highest KD.

1 ReplyEdited by JHarv: 12/23/2014 12:41:21 AMdont look at kills, look at total points. there is more value in holding 2 control points while getting kills rather than 1. ideally, you want to win the game before you want a high KD. example: Person A: 7,000 points, 30-10 record, 4 zone caps Person B: 6,000 points, 30-8 record, 1 zone cap are you telling me Person B did better? maybe Person A threw himself at a contested flag a couple more times, holding/capping it, and that caused him and his team to earn more points for each kill for the rest of the game leading to a win. hunters probably have more super kills. defender titans will have more super zone caps and holds and therefore a higher TEAM SCORE. warlocks might have less super kills, but more FLAG WIPES with 1 single nova bomb that again, leads to a higher TEAM SCORE.

1 ReplyIt looks about right based on my own XP playing it. My Hunter has the best KDR by quite a bit. The reason is Hunter's have two classes that are offensive. The titans D class is brings down their number and the self rezzing locks don't help either.

3 RepliesDoesn't prove anything. The top hunter players could just be better than the top warlock & titan players. Or hunters could be OP. Or the top 100 hunter players, while still having played a lot, could have played way less than the top warlocks/titans, leading to skewed data.

6 RepliesI play with a Warlock and a Hunter mostly, and I generally stay out of PvP except for Iron Banner or exotic bounties, so I'm mostly just playing the devil's advocate here, but... Has anyone ever considered that maybe the players that choose Hunter are just better players? Like if they all chose Titans instead then Titans would be statistically the best class?

Just shows how stupid this community is. You literally put the stats right in everyone's face saying "Look, here are the numbers classes aren't balanced" but you have idiots trying to argue against REAL numbers without having anything to support their claims. It's at the point where hunters have spent so much time defending their super that even actual stats can't convince them their super is unbalanced with the other supers. They take it as a personal insult against their own skill

I think a good metric would be percentage of supers that result in the super specific medal for each one. I would bet that the ratio of "way of the gun" and "gutted" medals to overall super kills for those classes is higher than "cry havoc" and "space magic." This would show that hunters get more kills per super on average.

I dominate with any class... but only if I have the right weapons equipped. It's weighed much more heavily in favor of weapons over class by far.

Example: my friend doesn't play Crucible because "Hunters are bitches with supers and sit in the corner with a shotgun". He mains Sunsinger and Fireborns himself just to get pop'd again. Added to that when i say anyone with a shotgun corner watches he ignores it and goes back to grenade spamming. If all classes have their pros and cons then Hunters pro is PvP and its con is PvE. And you whinners can complain about supers because that's all you know of the class but its okay keep ignoring the other nonsense the other classes have.....lol #huntermasterrace
