First things first, I realize that someone could abuse a P2P selling system. However here are some ideas I believe would allow it to not only work, but be fair for everyone involved without allowing players to cheat the system.
1) You guys set the prices of everything players sell to other players. The game isn't about economics, so laissez faire be gone.
2) It works like a pawn shop; a player selects whatever they'd like to sell and it goes to a "vault"-esque location. Other players can then see it, pay a price, and when the seller returns, he would get his portion. (The "portion" could be exp., glimmer, reputation, engrams, etc. Basically, the cost should be high, and the profit should be a little low, maybe on the level of activity rewards from the crucible).
3) The equipment purchased should have slightly lower stats than the original. This way, players can't just skip hard work for event gear, raid gear, and exotics yet still reap the same rewards.
4) As an additional thought, it could be that when a player enters the tower, if they have items for sale it would indicate that to other players. Then if they inspect that player, they would have another option to "Check Merchandise". And you could only check players in the lobby. That way luck still plays into it. Also, players could find a new thing to grind.
*Chuckle*
Well, those were just some of my thoughts.
Love the game! Good work on The Dark Below, and I'm anxiously awaiting the next DLC!

Perfect! Still having trading but not making so players can get good gear easily.
