should I Upgrade to a Ps4 or Xb1
I'm wanting to upgrade to next gen from all the extra cash I'm getting over Christmas, but I can't decide which system I should get overal. Also starting over means nothing to me, and I'm talking about overal not just for destiny. Thanks for any help!
Edit 1: wow this is insane almost a thousand replies, I've just noticed the xbox 1 bundle that comes with both assassins creed games, destiny and a $50 best buy gift card for only $350. So I'm probably going to go with that, Thanks everyone!
Edit 2: ok so I've changed my mind again. I ended up finding out that if my friends do get something, it will be a ps4 so I'm going to get the white bundle with destiny.

1 ReplyI switched from X360 to PS4 and one thing that I really enjoy is not listening to 10 year old kids yelling profanities over the mic. Network seems ok so far, but the dashboard and notifications need work.

If you're doing it mostly for Destiny, then grab a PS4. Otherwise I'd recommend the XB1.

You should look at the selection of games (both existing and coming up) and choose what appeals to you more. Also, take into account what your friends have if you care about playing with them. That said, I prefer the PS4. It's an objectively better machine and I like the game line up.

1 ReplySony is more future focused. A big Eco system of games and devices, cross-buy, streaming and constant releases. They may not be anywhere near a peak, but they have a destination. Microsoft lives in the now. Their phones were late to the party and windows is slowly dying. Xbox is their biggest success and they'll do anything and make any sudden changes to help it succeed. Of course I wouldn't put it pass them to scrap it for a better model.

Prior to the Sony hack I would've said get the ps4(even though i have an Xbox one). You should get the xbox one though. I think it's better and i see you're going to get it. Good :) Microsoft>Sony. Even if the ps4 is "better" than the xboxe one.

4 RepliesIs this really something that requires any thought? Ps4 is the only answer. Reasons: -most games run at higher resolution, sometime double the resolution, on ps4. Example: cod ghosts 1080p ps4 vs 720p xb1 (native resolution, no upscaling). -some games have higher frame rate on ls4, example: diablo 3 -hardware is simply better with ps4 for the same price of an xb1. -developers are favoring the ps4 due to better hardware and more sales -games can be played with PC players, impossible on xb1. Examples: new street fighter, final fantasy online -Sony always supports their consoles for 10 years. -more sales world wide = more 3rd party support -more sales world wide = larger online community. Games like destiny need a large community to survive. -PS+ is cheaper yet gives you more. - controllers don't require you to buy a charge kit or batteries for, and when the battery dies Sony gives you a controller as a replacement for free. Think about it. You have 2 things that cost about the same, let's say a car. 2 cars, both cost the same...but one is faster, looks cooler, and has more after market support due to more sales...its pretty obvious which one you'd buy.

PS4 this time around if you ask me, although i had a PS3 last gen i beleive the 360 was better, this time around though PS4 if you ask me. and no i don't mean gfx wise, i prefer gameplay.

If you love destiny then get a ps4, they are holding content back on xb1, that is the only reason I have as the games look identical otherwise

1 ReplyHey mate not sure what console you currently have but I've been xbox for over 10 years. After the reveal for both consoles I was pretty annoyed with what Microsoft intended for the XB1. I waited until August this year to buy my PS4 and I am so happy I made the switch. I've always been a die hard xbox fan since the original and have never owned a PlayStation. After watching them duke it out in the pre launch I couldn't help but lean towards the PS4 as Microsoft just played their cards very poorly. This is by far the best console I have ever owned. The controller is amazing. The previous play stations didn't have triggers which was a huge deal beaker for me and the PS4 controller is the best controller I have ever held. The interface is so clean and tidy and was very easy to learn. The list could go on forever but the only downside is that PSN flat out sucks. Compared to xbox live it is a joke. In the 7 years I have played console games online from my Xbox360 I can count on one hand the amount of times the servers crashed. In the 5 months I have had a PS4 I have lost count of how many times PSN has crashed. For them to charge the same as Microsoft is just pathetic. At the end of the day pick the console all your friends are playing as it is the players not the console that makes a game enjoyable. Hope that helps.

I have a ps4, and there are a few things that seem lacking (I came from Xbox 360) Nothing that is a deal breaker but just stuff that is odd. That being said I don't have an XB one so i don't know how they compare. Oh yeah and I like the PS controller better than XB

Can't say. I'm on PS3 and PS+ isn't needed for online but it's amazing (just for the games and perks). Then again I love my single player games. It really up to you. I can't think of any great XBox games being ported over to Playstation.

1 ReplyI just made the switch to PS4 from XB1 and I prefer it big time. I love the fact that I can play my PS4 from anywhere via my Vita, I lay in bed and farm materials or bang out some bounties sometimes haha, and I don't even have to be at home. The PS4 controller is also fantastic and I haven't had any issue with the console as of yet. It's your decision so I suggest looking at which controller you prefer, whether the vita interests you, what your friends play, and which exclusives take your interest.

I would personally go for the ps4 as it has better gameplay. But if you want a device with better social needs such as Skype go for the Xbox 1.

If you buy an xbox system you will miss out on Bloodborne. If you don't know what that game is than keep it that way. It's going to be amazing

2 RepliesPS4 has phenomenal graphics and great hardware overall. However, PSN is a major drawback for me. I'm not satisfied with PS+ and there is no difference in service quality from the PS3. Also, I get the sense that the community is less fun than Xbox. Kinect is cool, and the Xbox seems to have a more skilled, sociable community of players. Xbox hardware is still good, but decidedly less powerful than the PS4. Also, it's a little more costly at the moment. Both are good consoles. I always prefer PlayStation because I'm most familiar with it.
