Is Destiny Your Game Of The Year?

So, 2014 ends, and we find ourselves at an inflection point in gaming, between the old generation and the new generation of consoles, and with Bungie bridging the gap in between with the massively ambicious, if flawed, release of Destiny. We've been amazed by the graphics, and frustrated by a sickening dose of RNG. We have been left wanting for more: more story, more things to do, more game modes in the crucible, bigger raids, among many, many other things. The game they showed before launch is being delivered, painstakingly slowly, but it is. Regardless of what the internet rumormill spits out, a company with the pedigree of Bungie surely has a plan, and I can't wait to see them unfold it. While I may not be happy with the final product(and none of us can be, really), I will surely be keeping an eye on all the content they release. Destiny is a foundation upon which Bungie and other developers will build, and can't wait to see what the future of first person online games holds. It is not the best game of the year and its not even close. But it is the most important game released in a long time. It is frustrating, and controversial, and it could have been so good; it can still be so good. Precisely because it left us wanting for more, because we can't wait to see Bungie fix it's flaws, and because we can't put it down, Destiny is my game of the year.
