We desire the ability to choose. (Legendary Engram request/suggestion)

I was going to write this tongue in cheek story leading up to my main point but I have an appointment I forgot about in about 30 minutes so I'm just going to cut to the chase. Remove Ascendant Materials from the possible rewards of Legendary Engrams because it removes the ability to choose and disappoints players (new and old) when they are received in such a fashion. Ascendant Materials from Legendary Engrams is different than Strange Coins and Motes of Light from Uncommon Engrams because the player is able to break down Legendary equipment to receive Ascendant Materials. Getting Coins and Motes from Uncommon Engrams is nbd because you can't receive those materials from breaking down Uncommon equipment. So getting Coins and Motes are akin to "happy accidents" or w/e while getting Ascendant Materials is akin to having someone choose for you. What lead me to realize how messed up the system is was when my brother (who started playing a few weeks ago) received one of his 1st Legendary Engrams (secondary weapon) only to have it reward him with 2 Ascendant Energy. Over the last month I've found/received maybe 5 Legendary Engrams I can't remember the exact amount but 5 is a very generous guess, what I can remember is that every one of those Engrams broke down in to Ascendant Materials that I could have received by breaking down the equipment I would have received had Ascendant Materials not been set as a possible reward. Legendary Engrams are fairly rare and as such players shouldn't be given a lack luster reward when turning them in. Seeing a piece of equipment pop up is more exciting than seeing 2 Shards/Energy pop up. Edit: Comment that further expresses my feelings
I expect to receive materials instead of gear (because I've only had a handful of Legendary Engrams actually reward a piece of gear) and I'm still disappointed by getting them. Why? Because they make no sense as a "reward" from Legendary Engrams. Why? Because you get Ascendant Materials from dismantling Legendary equipment. The disappointment is due to a design flaw and the only way I (and other players) could avoid being disappointed by receiving Ascendant Materials from L.Engrams is by expecting to receive nothing from them. Players are supposed to be excited when they obtain something rare (L.Engram), Destiny's loot system design causes players to *dream* and wonder what they're going to get. There's a huge difference between hoping to get one thing but receiving another and hoping to get one thing and receiving that thing's scraps; that is exactly what Ascendant Materials are, the scraps of what you hoped to received. You wanted a sandwich? Here are some bread crumbs. You wanted a bike? Here's the rim of a bike tire. You wanted a pencil? Here's a stick. When I see Ascendant Energy/Shards pop up after decrypting a L.Engram all I see is that Red Hand IX or piece of armor that increases hand cannon ammo/reload speed I've been wanting. It doesn't matter what I expected to receive when what I received is a reminder of what it could have been.
