While Destiny is a great game, The Dark Below has introduced a number of issues that are holding the game back right now. Here’s my take on them and what can be done to remedy the problems. Exotic upgrading doesn’t take into account the time spent leveling the original item. This makes it feel as though time has been wasted and discourages re-leveling of exotics as we can only assume the same thing will happen again when the House of Wolves drops. A simple solution to this would be to wipe the final upgrade damage/defense nodes when upgrading with Xur but leave the item otherwise untouched. This approach means that the item still requires leveling to hit its new maximum attack/defense values but respects any time investment already made by the player. Vault Of Glass gear is now outclassed by vendor gear. This devalues the achievement of beating the VoG and discourages collecting all of the Crota’s End rewards as again, they will presumably be made redundant in a few months time. The best solution to this is to make all raid gear upgradable the same way exotics are. Even if the armor only goes to level 31 for now saving level 32 armor for Crota’s End, at least it will still be relevant! The VoG has lost its replay value. This is a real shame as it is one of the best pieces of content Destiny has to offer. Make the VoG relevant again by bringing it back in line with the other high level activities in the game. This means making it drop level 32 exotics and raid weapons and level 31 raid armor. This could come along side a difficulty adjustment for both normal and hard modes. Vault space. Of all the reasons for people to stop playing the game, don’t let it be lack of vault space! The whole point of playing Destiny is to get new and exciting gear but when you can’t do that without destroying gear you have spent a long time acquiring and upgrading, it removes any incentive to play the game at all! Bungie please, we need more vault space!
