Crota Glitch Isn't Fixable & If it is, it will take a lot of work or we will have VOG all over again.

After getting a lot of messages I feel that I have to restructure this post a little bit. So let's face it. We all know the glitch with Crota & I'm not talking about the chalice glitch. The glitch where you start off in the room after touching the crystal, kill everything and take down Crotas sheild before leaving the room and having the host leave only for him to be stuck kneeling for the whole 9 minutes before enrage. Now a lot of people have come to these forums trying to get the glitch Patched & we can now see why bungie have kept the hard raid Untill next year to avoid any of these major game breaking bugs out of what will most likely be the current hardest possible thing to do in destiny. Before we start, Just a note: I personally don't have anything against people who use these methods as I understand that things can get hard at times and frustrating. I also belive that you should play the way that you feel is best, meaning that if you like to cheese then cheese, play legit then play legit. Edit: some people seem to assume that I am part of these people who glitch which is false. I won't lie that I have used these methods at least once before they spread all over the forums & YouTube. Luckily I got shards when I did it so I believe that's a good enough reward for my taking the easy way. Now, I'd like to touch base with a few known "exploits" I've seen in these forums and give an insight on how it is an exploit and if it isn't. 1. Being sent half way across the map due to a lamp explosion. Personally I don't see an issue with this. The lamps were designed to blow up after about 10-15 seconds, killing everything around it. Now if positiond on the rock correctly you will skip half the maze. Should this be fixed? No I personally don't see any reason to fix this. This is a speed runner or solo runners go-to spot to save time just like halo had a lot of spots that you could use to cut considerable time off your playthrough, heck most games have them. Besides it is a double edged sword as you can die very easy. 2. Bridge glitch. This glitch currently involves a group of players that have a sunslinger warlock to all die and have the warlock res 1 second before the timer hits 0. Edit: From what I've been told you can do this straight away but I haven't seen any proof as I don't cheese. Doing so will cause the sword bearer to be the only one on the side the guardians are on and all you have to do is wait and kill the ogres and wizards. Should it be fixed? Yes this should be fixed. I understand how people feel about this and belive it's not bad but this isn't how it was ment to be. You shouldn't leave sword dude by himself while you kill his friends on the other side, you should be running over one at a time. The way I see to combat this is to set up killzones on the platforms to the side or if one ogre is dead then the team gets the red death screen like when oracles kill you in the atheon fight and you lose your super to keep people waiting. Maybe keeping the enemies alive also like in VOG would be helpful too. 3. Chalice glitch. Now this glitch is Somthing that I don't really see any main issues with and ties into the one before. If you have a warlock and res right on the 1 second mark then you all should have the 'presence of Crota' debuff gone for the whole game (unless the chalice is picked up). Should it be fixed? Personally I say No. No i don't think it should be fixed as it's not really game breaking. Yes the chalice needs to be passed around but you can still die. You can still take Alot of damage and oversoul can still kill you. 4. Crota on his Knee - Now we have come to the big one. The reason you were all pulled to this post. The One where he gets on his knee and stays there and can be killed very quickly with little to no effort (one sword level 32, 2 swords 31). Now this is a topic up for debate in the comments on if it can be fixed or not with alot of people saying it can and giving different reasons but saying it can't and both sides have valid points so let's try look more deeply. Now can this be fixed? Yes but mainly No. I don't. The reason for this is that you are playing by the way it's ment to be played, shooting at Crota and Dropping his shields. To fix this would be to remove that mechanic alltogether which would require extensive downtime on the destiny servers (activision won't allow this) & trying to quickly patch on a solution without putting propper time, thort & testing would break the raid tremendously (look at VOG for example). The host is basically lagging the game when he quits destiny all together or removes Ethernet cable which keeps Crota down. You can't stop someone from quitting the actual game or removing the cable as both of those are console related not destiny related. Now a more serious question arises, Is there a fix for this? I belive yes. This glitch from what I've noticed and heard, Edit: apparently it can be done at anytime but is recommended doing so before enemies spawn. Can only be done before running out to the chalice. So making it that Crota can't take damage before the sword bearer is killed Or the boomers have spawned is one way. But another way is lowering the chance if getting good items if Crota is down longer then 10 seconds at a time. It will entice people to do it legit, want the good stuff? Play it the way we wanted you too, want shards? Cheese him, your call. Personally I belive bungie needs to put as much focus in Untill the hard raid drops and focus on these crucial parts which needs to be fixed (If they can be) AND ACTUALLY TEST THE PATCH BEFORE THEY RELEASE IT THIS TIME! So we don't have a VOG all over again & people aren't running around with necrochasms they didn't earn. Also need to fix: Crota falling of the platform and running up the stairs and killing everyone. Blowing up oversoul only for it to kill you anyway. The knight glitching through the crystal room. Crota having inconsistent kneeling times. The sword of the sword-bearer not dropping sometimes Crota getting all his health back. Ogres spawning on inconsistent rounds. How do you guys feel about these glitches? Edit 1: to people asking if I have any idea on what I'm talking about? Yes I do. I currently hold a cert 4 in digital and interactive gaming and I am going to university next year to further my studies in this field (Australian Course). And for people saying there is no such thing, http://www.evocca.edu.au/courses/it-multimedia/diploma-of-digital-and-interactive-games/ Edit 2: it has come to my attention that people on other platforms are posting that #4 is a result of taking the Ethernet cable out causes it which means that (like the Xbox) is not directly caused by destiny but the consoles themselves are being used to keep Crota down.

  • I believe the crota thing could be fixed as easy as reimplementing an already existing mechanic. If someone leaves, oversoul is activated, and kneel timer is reset based on host (optimally timer would be server based but well bungie...). This keeps crota standing/ stands him back up and wouldn't allow the swordbearer to spam him because he would just hulk smash the hell out of the guy. Doesn't matter if the shield goes down or not, no way to hit him if he is still standing without taking major damage or dying. Simple, easy, and the best part is that even if it happens to a legit raid group it won't matter that much cause you can still kill the oversoul, but it prevents the exploit by keeping crota from staying down too long.
