[UPDATED] Accepting any and all theories for the remaining chests in Crota's End Raid

I updated the post on reddit and am doing the same here. Usernames are from reddit and bungie.net. Big thanks for those interested and posting! TLW: There are TWO chests in the beginning part of the raid. One will always drop loot the other may be dependent on completely the maze in a certain way. THE BASICS Have you seen an area that holds promise, but are terrible at hardcore parkour (jumping)? Post it! Have a theory that if "this" happens (or doesn't happen) then "that" could happen? Post it! Have a crazy "Why not try this" idea? Post It ! My bet is that if there is a central location that people can reference to expand on ideas or see ones that flat out did not work and not waste time with those, then we can find the rest of the chests pretty quickly. Pictures and videos will obviously be helpful, so post em if you got em. If I see anything out on the interweb I will update. Here's the locations of the chests dropping loot found so far: Location #1 Location #2 Courtesy of /u/thetacticaldonut a text explanation of the above vids 1st Chest - Spawns in 1 of 4 locations on the left wall/ lower half of the darkness maze. I haven't had a chance to explore the upper half much. 2nd Chest - After the 2nd shrieker is killed the door to the chest starts to close, 1 guardian must make it to the room before the door closes for it to open again. THRALL-A-POOLZA (LAMP SECTION) /u/BriceTheBeast was the original poster to point out a chest spawn area on the right side (as you drop in) on a balcony. /u/dasKampfyChair and /u/Roborabbit37 (video proof of Balcony Chest) both submitted videos confirming the balcony chest, HOWEVER, neither one one got loot when they opened them. This led us to assume that there is only one chest that spawns in different locations throughout the maze. BUT WAIT...THERE'S MORE! Over on bungie.net @Sodac posted this delightful and encouraging piece of info: My team found 2 chests in the this section. We were exploring after we built the bridge. We checked in the two platform doors before the final two lanterns and bridge sync plate and there was a chest and there was also one in the beginning next to where you drop in before the first lantern in the 1st door. Facts I know about this... 1. We had beaten the section already before looking for the chests. (bridge was built, and we had touched the light and received loot) 2. Everyone had already obtained the first chest to the left prior to round start/completion. 3. One person died during the section, was not flawless. 4. Not everyone ignited a lamp. 5. Neither chest gave loot. (we are assuming the two chests must be opened during activity and before completion... in testing) 6. Went back to the beginning and one of the chests were in the 1st door to the left, there was no orange light above the door. 7. I highly suggest if you have an at least decent LED tv to turn your screen brightness in game to max, this makes seeing extremely easy! @Rockwellevo on bungie.net had this to say There are two chests in the first part of the raid, not just the one with the light on the outside of the door. On release day my team was messing around and one guy ended up on a lower area that contained another room with a chest. He couldn't get back up though from the lower area and we ended up wiping anyway. Everyone wanted to get passed the first part of the raid so we gave up trying to find it again but I need to go back and do more exploring now. This has promise. Since a few people have seen these chests but no one has gotten loot from both of them AND there's a strong theory that the Scoring Screen's counters (screen that shows after wiping) can hold clues to activating chest spawns. Examples would be how many lanterns were activated, etc. @LivewireUMD has some interesting input: There is definitely more to discover in the lamp area. I've seen chests in the doors where the light was NOT on and the chest gave loot (it was looted first). Then I've seen other chests in the area that did not give loot. Perhaps multiple chests spawn in the lamp area and you have to open them in a certain order. Or before doing things. One theory could be: 1) if the light above the door is not on and there is a chest then you can loot before touching any lights without penalty (penalty = you cannot obtain loot from anymore chests in the zone) 2) if the light above the door is on then you can loot after touching a light without penalty. Get through this section without activating any lamps BRIDGE/GATEKEEPERS No chest has been found in this area before/after the encounter starts/finishes. Listed below will be theories as to what may cause a chest to spawn. Don't let the bridges deconstruct. Here's what /u/dhruv69 suggests: What if the bridge was never allowed to deconstruct ? Meaning once three people make it over to the other side, they immediately stand on the circle that side while the people over on the left side keep it open as well. Then continue with the strategy of crossing people over while never letting the bridge deconstruct. Maybe the chest spawns on one of those three floating platforms near the totems or somewhere further down the raid. The bridge that we construct during the 2nd phase of the raid will stay constructed after the area is cleared. This area could have great potential! A few have suggested trying to make one's way to the pillars that are out in the open area between where you start and where you end up. On bungie.net @Sodac said that there is an invisible wall out there that prevents you from making it to each on. Let me know on this one, please. CROTA'S LOVE COMPANION (IR YUT THE DEATHSINGER) This is arguably the most frustrating part of the raid for loot. No chest, no loot drops. But like many, I think there has got to be something there. Here are some thoughts: Some have also suggested that since this event is timed, that killing her within a certain time will spawn a chest. I saw a video of a guy solo'ing this part. There could be something up in the rooms that he reaches that are above the Deathsinger. After killing Ir Yut (The Wicked Bitch of the Hellmouth) split the fireteam up and search for as many doors as possible. Open them all at once and see what happen. @brettwilhoit had this theory: "I think there's a chest during crota fight, randomly a gatekeeper spawns above the crystal and can be see on the balcony at times, he has to be guarding something... Likely a chest and would definitely be in a high stress situation fighting Crota and all" CROTA FIGHT Put on your tinfoil hats and get comfy. Open to suggestions on this area. THINGS TO TRY IN ALL PHASES /u/Promethium suggested that paying attention to the text that will appear over your super level that is going to make the fight harder in some way is something to consider. An example being from the old raid where it displays the Templar is summoning his Minotaurs after you prevent him from teleporting. To piggyback on that, taking note of anything that is displayed over the super meter and trying to see if that action can be prevented. /u/Athearchist noted that the chests have been in high stress areas (running from thralls in the beginning and streaking past the shriekers/thralls for the 2nd chest). He suggests one area "During the first bridge when we're running towards the light. Once you cross it there are two platforms to the left and right. Assuming you can go invisible, they should be capable of being explored, as should the remaining trek to the light." What other "high stress" areas are there that would be easy to zoom past a chest without a second thought? Score Screen An overall theme that has been mentioned is to pay attention to the "counters" that the game will show after wipes. Examples would be how many lanterns were activated, time with the chalice, etc. This was/is a common theory for the VoG chests. In this section I will list anything that has to do with trying one of these out. This way your team can focus on one and explore, while another team works on another counter thing and explores. Lamps Activated - [place holder] Exploders Killed - [place holder] Gatekeeper Kills - [Needs Testing] Each player must kill 1 Gatekeeper and 1 Swordbear (this has been said to not have spawned anything, but keep testing) OR 1 player must kill 6 Gatekeepers and 6 Swordbears Encounter Duration - [place holder] Chalice Time - [Needs Testing] 0:00 Chalice Time could be a thing. There are a few weapons (Suros, Apotheosis Veil, Red Death, Swordbreaker - new raid shotgun, destinygamewiki.com lists the gun as having the perk "Lifestealer", but not on destinydb, this may be a lucky perk you get) that will regen health. Plus a Titans bubble can regen health. /u/Roborabbit37 said there is a cheese method that allows you to NOT use the chalice, yet no chest spawn. New Cheese on Crota that if you all wipe then a Warlock self revives, you lose the Presence of Crota debuff and picking up the Chalice will only put it back on. We done it earlier without picking up Chalice. Oversouls - [Needs Testing]Defeat Crota with 0 Oversouls - /u/darkxsagex said that his team beat Crota with no Oversoul and searched the area to no avail. Possibly needs to be combined with 0:00 Chalice Time.
