Put raid matchmaking in the game! (chat or LFG)

Please give this a chance before you just shut it straight down. If you would have no interest in using this feature just think of others who will and who are missing out on (what I think) the best part of the game. Everyone who thinks this is a bad idea are silly. Honestly...why would it bother you even if you wouldn't use it? Just use the old way - said this couple of times but people don't quite get that this would be optional, just be nice to have a choice. People are acting like they are forcing you to raid using matchmaking. It wouldn't be (or shouldn't be) like strike matchmaking. Needs to be just like DestinyLFG but in the actual game. Even an in game chat would be better than what we have now. If a free game like warframe can do it why can't a $500million (budget or whatever it still cost a lot more) game do it? Works great as well. WARFRAME CHAT on youtube - Put this in destiny Also having a number in your emblem or anywhere showing how many times you have done the raid (it shows you in grimoire...why not in the game?) Examples of replies: "What about AFKers" - Very few would AFK as everyone knows it's pretty much not doable without all 6. Everyone knows it's a team effort and if there was an AFK you could group up with the guys that wasn't Afk, hit search and would find 1 more within seconds. Same process works for trolls. Also an option for which part you want to do so you haven't gotta search for entire process (same as LFG - fresh, Templar, crota boss ect). There is also the trusty vote to kick option. People want to do the raid..they know it's gonna take time so they have no time for AFKers. But I really doubt someone is going to sit there with an AFKer in the room....they would just back out. "People without mics would ruin it" - going back to the first point. Not many would join matchmaking raid without a mic. Also there would be a ready up lobby before you begin. If they don't have a mic you don't ready up, back out and search again. Everyone knows how tough the raids are though especially for new guys which brings me to my next point "It would be too hard with randoms" - everyone you add on destinylfg or wherever is random. I always join a room and ask does everyone know what to do and some say yes some say no. There is always a guy who will explain what to do and it gives you a chance to see other peoples performance and add really good players. If you don't like the group. Look again in seconds. "We don't want randoms in our 2 man army" - That's cool. There would be 2 options. Start / Search. When you hit start it starts the raid with whoever is in your fireteam at the time. Search will bring a dropdown menu or list of options you wish to search for and boom. "It simply can't be done on destiny's servers" - If this was true I would like to actually hear it from bungie. If they came out right and said the game simply cannot support matchmaking in the raid then fair enough. I haven't seen anything like this myself and think the only reason they didn't add matchmaking was because they thought this mode was going to be too tough for random people to group up and do together so only clan groups would be able to do it. We showed them didn't we. "Stop being lazy and use DestinyLFG" - Is it lazy for us to have to use outside of game resources to play a game mode in the game, or was it lazy of bungie to not add anything like LFG in the actual game? I use LFG as much as I can as it's the only way for me to raid. I would just like bungie to take some responsibility and actually add this in the game. Imagine you had to do this for every game mode. They might as well have. This would benefit all meaning faster searches finding players faster. Last night we did crotas end and few guys kept leaving. Because there are so many people searching and adding it took 5-10 mins to get ONE GUY! How many would you have found pressing 1 button? Also it would be optional meaning if you wanna do it the old fashion 10 year old way then that's fine but I guarantee you would end up using matchmaking. All it takes is a little faith and thought and this would work so much better. Edit: Search options Completions - x (Choose to look for guardians who have completed so many times ie 5 times/10times/15times/30times) Rank/Level - (Choose what level you are looking for ie 28+/30+) Class - x (Choose class you are looking for) Langauge - x Mic - Yes/No Experienced - Yes/No Checkpoint - Fresh/Gatekeeper/Boss (This would act like vanguard strike options or crucible game mode options) ***Raid matchmaking would unlock after you have completed the raid say 3 times*** Also option to "Host new fireteam" or "Join existing fireteam" or if not possible then lobby and "Press (button) to ready up) so when everyone is satisfied you press ready. If not just search again. To everyone who agrees thank you. If we can get enough people on board with this and get as many likes as we can it can happen just like when people made all those threads about voice chat (which I don't know about you but I have still not used this option). I would like to hear a reason from bungie why it's not in the game. Especially now.

  • Matchmaking would work if it broadcasted game invites to friends or have filters for it based on experience and rank. Reward high ranking guys who take on the challenge of successful running randoms through. It would work if Bungie wants it to work.

    • Personally I think that something like a bounty board at the tower run by players would be a good idea, someone puts up a request which shows the mission, what level the mission will be at, how many people are required and the desired level of the players, the poster could then choose from all the applicants who they want with them. Or it could have set missions and just sort people into groups.

It all would be much, muuuch easier if Bungie just included worderful idea from other console shooters, where cooperation is essential. Ladies and gentleman: SPLIT SCREEN! Imagine, you have team of you, your wife, your kid and your neighbour and all you need is to connect with your friend, who's playing with his roommate. That's actually what I expected when I bought console. But no. You need to FIND your online friends from mixed bag of some random, online dudes. Ok, when someone is some 20y.o. nerd, there's nothing better to do actually (as teenager I participated in local Quake scene, so I kind of understand that), but for those of us who are from different demographics, these Raids are like slap in the face: "Here is this awesome feature, that's the best of entire game. But you cannot get it until you get to know 5 people who are 30lvl nerds, who live alone, playing the exact same game, on exact same platform. Now show your dedication to the game and find these people on our awesome forum (or in-game, as we actually included voicechat!), while your life and your loved ones wait." You know what? F YOU. Give us split screen or give us matchmaking (and better both). Otherwise put more efford on making more content that's actually playable for vast majority of game's fanbase.

      • The majority of people, like all matchmaking, would join without a mic and not know what their doing. I would never join a matchmaking raid, almost none would beat it.

        • Yer I get where you're coming from but a random team put together by match making would very rarely succeed in a raid, what happens when that one person just will not listen!? Or someone decides to keep -blam!-ing off for a smoke break in the middle of a fire fight? You can't kick them, You might not even be able to talk to them, no mic or different languages. Look how many people go missing in strikes let alone the raid. Totally see your frustration but I personally don't think match making is the answer.

          • Matchmaking is the lowest common denominator for group formation. What this means is a high number of matchmaking groups will fail in the raid, and while the obvious response is "well that's still our choice then to fail in matchmaking" your missing the point. If the raid is made artificially harder by forcing you to play with randoms you can't screen at all, then when it fails those people will complain on the forums, and eventually raids will be designed around a group of randoms being able to finish a raid, meaning you're now punishing the people who actually raid in groups. There are two fairly obvious solutions though: 1) Create a destinylfg in game, something like a board in the tower where you can post on your guardian you're looking for a group 2) Allow raid matchmaking but fundamentally change the experience. WoW did this with their "looking for raid" difficulty. Essentially how this would work in destiny is the raid is easier, easy enough for a random group to clear, but the odds of obtaining gear would be significantly less. This would create a scenario where organized groups aren't punished and those who are willing to take a heavy penalty to RNG get their matchmaking.

            • With all the resources out there I'm not completely understanding why you're having difficulty with this topic. There isn't raid matchmaking and it doesn't seen like there will be. Use LFG, use the forums, invite appropriately leveled people from the tower and most importantly get over it.

                      • Yep its a bunch of BS......I think Bungie thinks this is Match.com or something.....I have a lot of friends, but most don't have Destiny.....I have never done VOG or Crotas...and I play daily since day one. It such BS.......I don't need a dating service here...I want a convenient way to group up and play like the Vanguard strikes...Having both options are fine but geeeeez.

                        • Bungie simply isn't talented enough to add matchmaking to Raids where there is a checkpoint system. They hide behind this "it's too hard and requires teamwork" nonsense. They try to cover their ineptitude by using the same excuse for not adding matchmaking to weekly's and Nightfall. These amateurish clowns can't even code a skip cut scene button or a menu option to turn off aim assist into the game.

See my only problem is playing with randoms that you would get in matchmaking I can see it turning into every other game. Yeah I have 10 minutes I'll get the first checkpoint of the raid and leave. As it is now you can't really just decide on a whim to do the raid. The effort of finding a group disuades that I think. On the other hand if that got tedious I'd just bite the bullet and find a clan again.. I just enjoy not having to deal with all the crap that comes with lol

Matchmaking would ruin this game, just like it did many others. I hope Bungie never implements it.
Sadly, they will once the game popularity goes down but that's not happening any time soon.
If someone leaves matchmaking finding a new one would be terrible. You know how bad it is for strikes. An im game LFG board would be nice but not better than DestinyLFG.net same people same problems.

                                  • Matchmaking doesn't compare to you taking the time to find Guardians to game with. You could have composed a want ad instead of what you posted. Have you considered afkers? No discussion of tactics? People dropping out of the raid because they feel your skills arent up to snuff? I dont know. I feel people make an issue of it because they dont have it. Then they write these long posts about it, but refuse to put that effort in enhancing their social experience. Raid is designed with friends in mind, not just throwing a grab bag of Guardians together and told to face difficult challenges.
