Why are you trying to kill ice breaker?
Before we begin, I just wanna say that black hammer is pretty good. I like it. But it's no ice breaker. A little more impact doesn't make it "the breaker killer". Breaker cannot be dethroned. It'll be around long after hammer has been rotated out and forgotten.
So why are some people saying goodbye to the best exotic sniper? Are you? I've seen a few posts and heard a few voices say "this thing beats out ice breaker"
If it ain't broke don't fix it. Opinions?

Edit: so today we killed crota and what did I roll? Hunger of Crota!! Ice Breaker with Hunger of Crota....looks like I've got my raid loadouts going.
Edit: so today the inevitable happened. We killed crota and I rolled black hammer. Now I already had a good, thorough understanding of this weapon and that's why I like it. Time to play around with it.
Edit: 500 replies. This is working out.

It's just a good alternative so you can use gjalahorn or a primary exotic.

Put it like this. In a scenario where we both fight valus ta'uarac (biggest bullet sponge on the game) using any combination of all three weapons we have who would kill him first Your icebreaker and co or my black hammer and co.. Believe gjhallarhorn is coming Along with me.. That's the beauty of it currently. More impact, less stability, faster reloading and it frees up an exotic slot.

4 RepliesBlack Hammer has killed Ice Breaker on bosses. Except Nexus and Valus because Nexus can't be juggled to my understanding, and Valus needs at least two people critting him to be juggled.

1 ReplyWhen HOW drops then black hammer is going to be obscelete and unused. New raid probably wont have a sniper similar to ib/bh and icebreaker will roll back into trend.

Just unlocked the white nail ability on my hammer before I had to turn it off. Need to run some strikes with my titan later so guess what I'll be using.

I'm an Ice Breaker fan boy (didn't know we had them). I have it equipped most of the time and it is the best weapon in the game in my opinion. That being said, I got the Black Hammer on Monday and I do like it. I will run with it a good bit because it will allow me to equip my BallerHorn more often!

I dont have black hammer, but i dont usually like relying on ice breaker in pve. I like being able to use different guns, and if i use an exotic primary or heavy, then black hammer or my LDR 5001 can be productive in place of ice breaker

I Still Think Ice Breaker Is The best and i rely on it most of the time but i nom. use thorn or thunder lord but i do agree i've use black hammer its cool and really good but Ice Breaker is Still The Best i use it for the thrall part and it is da best clumps of thralls ice breaker and most are dead

12 RepliesI normally don't pull the mainstream card, but... Ice Breaker is too mainstream. Kinda tired over everyone's obsession with it. Sure it doesn't run out of ammo, but waiting to fire after 6 shots is annoying. You can put more rounds down range with a normal sniper. Unless you're cheesing of course. Maybe that's why so many people love it. Cause so many people love the cheese.

I personally never saw the appeal in ice breaker aside from regenerating ammo & solar damage (at the time of having no solar weapons.) Now I easily take the Patience and Time over it.

Black hammer is unbeatable for bosses, I just love hearing that sniper fire once a second for half a minute. it is THE sniper to use during strikes.

Don't get me wrong the icebreaker is awesome and is still going to be used on the regular, and If both guns were exotics I would take icebreaker, but the fact that black hammer is a legendary just makes it number one for me.

1 ReplyIcebreaker is ideal when you have the time to snipe mobs and blackhammer is perfect on bosses with easy to hit crit spots. Just tried it on Atheon, started with only 3 bullets and when Atheon was down I still had those 3 bullets lol. With Icebreaker I normally run out of bullets halfway through time's vengeance.

It'll only replace icebreaker for my strikes and all that. Nightfall and raid, still using icebreaker. Load out I'm going for, if I ever get black hammer, is bad juju, hammer, and hunger. This with my obsidian helm will have me popping supers every minute or so. The raid I'll still use icebreaker because I'd rather not have to get criticals every hit to get ammo. Icebreaker leaves room for mistakes.
