Old raid -Obsolete

Let's stop all the fuss over the new raid and new gadgets and all, and think about this for a second. Sooner or later all players will have done the previous raid enough times to acquire their desired set of raid weapons (if not all). And with the new raid, offering higher level gear and higher level weapons, why would anyone (other than the few who actually play the game to have fun) even bother doing the old raid anymore? My problem is that I'm one of those people, but I'm already seeing signs of my friends being deterred by the old raid saying things like "We've already got all from the old raid." and so on. Further more, why would any new player even bother with the old raid? when the new one gives better gear, better guns, heck it's even 1000x more fun to be honest. Not to mention the fact that even tower merchants sell better gear than the old raid gear (which is a lot easier to acquire). My point is, with the new raid the old one is becoming obsolete, and sooner or later I fear it might be abandoned. The bad part is what this implies about destiny's future, a bunch of abandoned raids with people almost only doing the most recent raids to be released (I'm hoping more raids will be released in the future). And places like the vault of glass becoming relics of the past, or even worst becoming even forgotten. The worst part is that I'm already seeing people who haven't even done the vault, and saying things like they're doing the new raid only, because of gear and such. The worst case would be content like the vault being taken out of the game because it is not played anymore, this has happened to many other games I've played in the past and it always kills me to see it happen. You might say they aren't true destiny players, they aren't the dedicated ones who play for fun, but the truth is, most players out there are like that (I highly doubt most of the people reading this post are any of those people because forum dwellers are the true no lifers of games <3) and they overpopulate and hush out players like us. The obvious solution (which is actually counterproductive), would be to raise the light level and damage of the old raid gear drops to match the new ones. This is ineffective, and as I mentioned earlier counter productive, because then people would have no incentive what so ever to even attempt the new raid, and they would just stick with the old raid instead, making the new raid pointless. Instead what i suggest is to keep the stats of the old raid drops the same, but make it upgrade-able to match the new raid drops in stats, by doing the new raid somehow. For example, if I get as a drop armor from the vault of glass, I would be able to upgrade it to match armor from the new raid by doing the new raid itself, that way people have incentive to do both raids, and this would cater to both vex lovers as well as hive lovers. Please share with me any other ideas/solutions you might have. And tell me if there is a flaw i missed in my proposed solution as well. Thank you very much for reading this long post. Best, Dat1guyovadere
