• You can become legend only until the next DLC then you're back to being a chump.

    • I form my opinion and don't need to look at articles from trash to get one...if "I" don't like something then that's "my" opinion and I'm not going to try and change someone else's opinion because they feel differently

    • Everyone can have their own opinion. But every time I read an review like this I can't help but wonder if they know what type of game they are playing. Even if it has FPS mechanics this is looter. Anyone who has played Borderlands, Diablo, or Wow knows this is standard fare. You go through a myriad of usless loot to get the one item you want or need, when you go to the next level or when the cap is raised all the gear you had becomes useless. It is about getting the newest stuff. When you go from Normal to Nightmare in Diablo, you don't drop back down to Normal for loot, it is pointless. Its the same thing with Crota's End and the VoG. I don't see how people can't understand that. The same thing with the combat and people bad mouthing the AI tactics. Again standard fare in these types of games. the AI swarms trying to overwhelm you, you have your fodder and them some specials. So in my book the people who have a problem with this just don't like this genre. Maybe they didn't do enough research. They saw Bungie and guns and assumed this was a new Halo. It isn't. Its an MMO/FPS hybrid. If the MMO structure doesn't appeal to you then you aren't going to enjoy this game.

      • There has to be a balance with rewards i kinda like my %drops from the raid but i absolutley hate that they added a bravket so any scrub could go straight in to crotas and all the previous vog raiders had to ditch their hardearned raidgear for vanguard garbage to max their output.

This article highlights how bad the Destiny community really is. Pre-DLC, everyone complained that the VoG loot was too hard to get and it took too long to get level cap. Fair enough. But post-DLC, the new gear is too easy to get and they have "wasted" all previous efforts. So, they corrected a problem, but now you are upset that new players won't have to grind as much as you did on VoG. You act like you want the game to be better, but you don't, you just want it to be better for you. If it was too hard for you then you want it to be too hard for everyone that comes after you. That's messed up. Here's a normal reaction to the changes : "Oh, gear drop rates have been improved in the new raid? And there is good gear in the tower too so raiding isn't my only option at end-game? Glad they fixed that. That's awesome."

The expansion introduced multiple pathways to reach level 31. And the article is bitching about not being able to get it, then bitching about how easy it is to do so. Stop bitching already. The game is fun to play. Just because you didn't get to level 30. Just be thankful you get to play this shit. If you don't like it, don't play. Stop bitching. There should be a way to filter all the bitching posts from these forums.

        • I received Atheon's Epilogue just days before I found out that it had become obsolete. And now many legendaries are better than most of my exotics. Even my old IB gear has shed its last breath, feeling unloved and unappreciated because it too is obsolete. I don't yet have the DLC, and now I don't think I'll buy it. I have tried to defend Destiny from the beginning. Now, convince me that I shouldn't sell it. Convince me.

I've given up for the time being. With work and kids my time is so limited, my gear being obsolete has really rubbed me the wrong way. The shooting is great, but story, player investment and gameplay variety are so undercooked.

I have to say that the author of that review was a lot more generous than I could have been. Especially when it came to the raid itself. The raid looked kind of interesting at first. And my interest peaked during the arduous fight of getting through the dark hall area. Once me and my team got over the bridge however, things changed dramatically. Once we had gotten into the next area we all paused to take in the new scenery. We noticed two tower like objects (totems) on either side of our half of the map, and what looked like another bridge activation pad. Anyway, getting down into this area and playing through, it quickly dawned on me what this was. It was like a rehashed version of the VoG. Right down to the things you have to do in order to attack a boss. The only difference now is that the enemies are Hive instead of Vex. I won't go into too much detail on this but for those who have played it already, they will know what I'm talking about. After our first wave of death and finally seeing this raid for what it is most of my team, including myself, felt robbed. We were so disappointed that we decided to quit. And it's not like it's that difficult either. It's just how disappointing you're left feeling that this raid had been designed in the same lacklustre way as those "new" areas you start in as part of this DLC. I also felt that the infamous Reddit poster, who had written about what happened with the changes made in the games story a year before release, was telling the truth. You can feel it as you play as there is NOTHING new added to the existing story. And especially when I recalled what was written about why a company would hire actors, and pay them loads, for as little dialogue as was included in the game. Because if there is one thing noticeable after playing through the first hour or so, it's that you don't hear a peep out of Dinklebot. This should tell you that the reason for this is because there was no script for it. This "expansion" was created on the fly. No planning, no structure, just a desperate attempt to get something to the masses to keep the money rolling in. This "expansion" just feels like a new, extremely small chapter, that was bolted onto the main game when the p*ss poor "story" from the main game isn't even finished. If there is one thing that I will agree with the author of that review on, it's that I too doubt I'll get to the next level cap. Not because it's going to be too difficult. It's simply because i don't think me and my team will be able to stomach another bunch of levels that offer nothing over previous levels before the DLC. Other than a new lick of paint. What they were thinking when someone thought it would be a good idea to make a game based on the type of gameplay you could attribute to games from the Sega Megadrive days I will never know. All I do know is that this so-called "expansion" is a massive disappointment, and it doesn't really offer anything new over what we have already seen previously. You have the same levels with new areas bolted onto them and you have the same three wave, bullet sponge enemies all over again. Thinking about it, are there actually any new enemies other than bigger and broader versions of pre-existing ones?

              • This is a quote from polygon.
That means that the more exotics you collected and upgraded prior to The Dark Below, the more progress you'll lose. The system actually punishes players proportionately to their dedication to the game, and it's the stupidest thing I've ever seen a major game developer do to its community. If you were unfortunate enough to commit to Destiny to an extent that you play all three classes and collected all the exotics, upgrading them all to the new baseline will cost 266 Strange Coins and 266,000 glimmer. If you do the hardest weekly heroic strike on three characters, you get 27 strange coins per week, and the cap on the amount of glimmer you can carry at once is 25,000. So you'll have to do 10 weeks of strikes on three characters, and farm glimmer for about 12 hours, just to erase all your progress on your collection of pre-expansion exotics. Once these items are upgraded, you'll have to complete roughly 1,200 bounties to get all the experience necessary to re-level everything. I assume you will get experience for one equipped armor and one equipped weapon simultaneously. You'll also need to collect about 3,000 destination materials, and another 200,000 glimmer to buy all the upgrades again. And spend another 266 Strange Coins to obtain 38 exotic shards for all the final upgrades. And I hope you enjoy doing this, because presumably, this entire process will start over when the House of Wolves expansion launches next year. This is your endgame. The only justification anyone can seem to offer for this is that you aren't supposed to have a collection of upgraded exotics, and you're only supposed to pick and choose a few that are actually worth grinding multiple times. I wish somebody had told me that before I upgraded them the first time.
• Meh...everyone's obsessed with their level. If you don't want to grind, stop at 31 and play the game modes you enjoy. Do the raid when you and your buddies feel like doing the raid, and maybe eventually you get to 32. Or maybe not. It doesn't change much of anything. Do what's fun, don't do what's not fun. This is going to sounds worse than I meant it, but it seems like the only people complaining about being taken advantage of are the people with addictive personalities who struggle with self-control and are weirdly obsessive about arbitrary goals.

                          • All I'm gonna say is I'm done playing destiny but before I leave Id advise everyone that continues, that at this point this late in the release the only explanation for this "game" if you can call it that, being so horrible is that it was either incomplete and/or they think extremely low of their fan base.... I know some of you will jump to argue but the truth is we'd have to be stupid to assume this is the future of gaming....this is a glorified beta this guardian is signing out

I completely agree with the review. The nightfall and weeklys are only available for those who purchased the so called "DLC" I can't play nightfall or weekly strike. And if that wasn't enough, for the past three days I wasn't even able to play the daily heroic mission. I mean seriously?!?! This shows how desperate Bungie really is. All they want is money and nothing else.

I mean I can't even think about touching the old raid and absolutely dreading doing the thought of doing it over again with crota ect ect. Level 32??? FCKU IT. We can just wait till wolves and buy 34 armour without any stress or glitches minotaurs.
