They were conspiring against them? The fallen guardian Dredgen Yor is the owner of the twisted magic Thorn. The Hive brought him down so perhaps he was the sixth member. So an overview (perhaps?) -The Six went down (Vell, Toland, Omar, Eris, Eriana-3 and Dredgen) -Dredgen was corrupted by Oryx as they reached Crota. -Betrayed his fireteam killing all of them, so he thought. -Eris lost her ghost and hid within the deep wells of the moon. -Shin Malphur (Brother/Lover/Hunter Vanguard Comrade of Eris) heard of this and the tower realized the rumors of Dredgen. -Seeking to avenge her (not knowing Eris lives), Shin abandons the Vanguard and goes out in search of Dredgen. -Dredgen twists his hand cannon into Thorn using the hive magic to hunt other guardians. -After reveiving The Last Word from Jaren Ward, Shin now has this legendary gun. (Could be the speaker in the grimoire Ghost Fragment: The Last Word 2) -The two meet at Dwindler's Ridge in a gunslinger showdown between Hunters. -Whether Shin lives in hiding or died, Dredgen is no longer spoken of in rumors. Now he wants other guardians to take up the gun and take vengeance upon the Hive. You do go through a lot of Hive to get this gun. A Light in the Dark. A Flicker of Hope.
