Hardcore Gamers Completely Screwed Over With The New Update
With guardians like myself, we have spent hours collecting almost every exotic and raid legendaries, and have them maxed out. With this update, you have forced us to drop our legendaries (since we can't max them out) and to also start over all of our exotics. While this sounds bad enough already, the process to restart will be dropping nearly the max amount of glimmer that I can hold, only to restart 3 exotics, because it costs 7000 glimmer to do so. And if that wasn't the worse part, I also have to end up using 2 exotic shards on each exotic, one to restart and one to attain the final upgrade. This gives players that have worked so hard to get where they are, no sense of achievement for doing so, because now every player is essentially starting over. To continue my complaint, most of us have full raid gear, allowing us to reach level 30. Players now can purchase level 31 gear by never even attempting the VoG. While this can be good for casual gamers, you have slapped the hardcore gamers in the face. Even some of us who are rank 10 or higher with the vanguard have to reach just one more level to attain a commendation to buy gear. What do we get for those 10 previous ranks? I just don't understand...

I agree that there should be some reward for prev vanguard levels. As people who start the game now and zip through the first couple levels will have a bank of commendations ready and we will be grinding away to achieve one. Maybe someone level 30 prior to the dlc (so you would have had to have done some succesful raiding) should have had a reward. Like a little hamper of goodies.

Also try to buy the exotic weapon from xur with the coins. Then you can dismantle old for the exotic shard which you can use to do the final upgrade on new. It saves you 2 exotic shards to buy for a extra cost of 3 or 10 strange coins. Good day to everyone

1 ReplyBasically this update to legendary and exotic gear screwed over hardcore and casual players alike. I've seen well thought out cases made for both. At this point it is safe to assume that Bungie is going to do whatever the -blam!- they want and screw over everyone in the process. Some gamers may enjoy repeating the same shit over and over and over and over and Destiny is exactly what they want but for a lot of people this game is just too much of a grind. Some people say just quit then but unfortunately I pre-ordered the $150 Ghost Edition and feel like I'm invested at least until the DLC that I paid for is all released so I'm still playing Destiny just like Bungie planned.

If you want to get more powerful, then you need to get new gear. 2. This happens in EVERY MMO-RPG type game when a new expansion drops. This not Titanfall or Call of Duty. 3. Level 31 is the new 29. Level 32 is the new 30. So just like----in the release version----players could get to level 29 by purchasing gear from vendors....players can get to level 31 now by doing the same. But just like the only way to get to level 30 (before IB 2.0) was to raid, the only way to get to level 32 is to raid. Level 30 is no longer the level cap, so there is NOTHING SPECIAL about level 30 anymore. Just asl there was nothing special about level 28 before. 4. You already got your rewards for those ranks. Why are you asking for more. 5. The commendation exists as a means of SLOWING the rate at which the new gear appears in the game. What Bungie didn't want happening was people stockpiling marks in anticipation of the expansion....then outfitting themselves with all the new armor from the vendors all on day one. The commendations limit the number of key pieces of armor and weapons you can buy...and keeps you out playng an dinvovled in the public areas of the game. You don't want to farm upgrade mats? Fine....but you're still going to have to get your @ss out there on patrol or into the Crucible if youw want to buy gear.

All I'm gonna say is I'm done playing destiny but before I leave Id advise everyone that continues, that at this point this late in the release the only explanation for this "game" if you can call it that, being so horrible is that it was either incomplete and/or they think extremely low of their fan base.... I know some of you will jump to argue but the truth is we'd have to be stupid to assume this is the future of gaming....this is a glorified beta this guardian is signing out

We're all EXTREMELY pissed and even those who defended Destiny are starting to grow tired of being Dicked by Bungie. On the Dark Below trailer they said the games not a one way street anymore and that they will listen, but they have done the exact opposite. They closed the street and will hear nothing from us and will only cling to their flawed and unfair design philosophies. Destiny 2 will flop hard and I hope Bungie will follow. The gaming industry doesn't need another greedy half-assed game producing studio.

1 ReplyNew players might b able to buy the gear but the one thing they can't buy that people who have played from the start have, is experience, I'd rather b a level 29 who can get thru raid/nightfall etc than a shop bought 31 who struggles :p

1 ReplyI feel the same way. My friends and I have wasted the last few months grinding for what? New players from Black Friday and Christmas can come in and be a higher level than us instantly. We have NOTHING to show really for the time and work we have put into to Destiny "Earning" our loot which is constantly parroted. Sure, we have some resources, exotics, and experience, but Destiny was about “showing where you have been and what you have done,” but now that is entirely true. When World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy, or KOTOR adds an expansion, the old content is still valid and relevant. For example, WoW's new content can be accessed AFTER completing the vanilla content, typically. Here, Bungie, decided to reward casual players for being just that, casual, and hardcore players by reducing their prestige and recognition for putting in the time and work. Bungie could have addressed the new content without alienating the hardcore/veteran palyers by adding the new content that requires level 28-30 Light to purchase a particular piece of gear; leveling a faction to Level 5-10 to buy the new gear; or providing a trade system to 'prestige' your old legendary gear that has been maxed out for the new higher level Light gear to re level with a boost. This slows down progression, adds time to the game experience, and does not slap the hardcore/ veteran players in the face for their hard work the past 3 months. Moreover, this makes the vanilla content in Destiny and VOG still relevant post DLC. However, Bungie decided to scrap that idea and grant level 31 to all players by doing very little work while leaving level 28-30s outside in the cold. I am partially lucky since I never leveled up my gear all the way and stock piled my resources. I am now a higher level than friends that grinded the VoG Raid over 20 times to get a full set of raid gear. This is not fair. The player base will be affected by Bungie’s decision. Therefore, Bungie should address the issue concerning their decision to make older content irrelevant and unnecessary, whether negligently or intentionally. It is quicker to progress by grinding bounties for reputation and strikes/crucible for the respective marks to get Light Level 31 than trying to run a VoG Raid or Nightfall strike as it should be for proper progression and content relevancy.

Hey man I totally agree with you. Idk why people on here are being rude and ignorant. I don't even think most of them fully understand your point. If I'm not mistaken I understand you're saying that you feel like your hard work for this game has not been rewarded in anyway so that's why it's a slap in the face to hardcore gamers.

Well, you obviously enjoyed the experience (or challenge) of collecting and leveling everything, so I'd think that the opportunity to do more of it would make you happy. This isn't a game you're going to "win"...you can't "beat" it. It'll just keep changing, making what you have obsolete until Destiny 2 comes out and you can start all over again.

5 RepliesActually your new exotic the suros for example starts with the same power as your old maxed suros. All the upgrades make it higher starting with the 1st. Compare the numbers. I did with the icebreaker before buying the upgrade. They're essentially rewarding you but you obviously didn't pay attention to the stats. The shards and glimmer you paid xur essentially unlocked higher upgrades.

I agree completely. Old raid gear is useless now it's just on to the next gear. Buy level 31 gear to get the new raid gear which will make your 31 gear irrelevant then. This game is about done for me. They just didn't think this through. They made this whole big budget game and seems they made up the rules as they went and its senseless

10 RepliesHardcore gamer here and I think your whining. 31 with titan. Will be 31 tonight with warlock. Hunter is a final class so I'll get it there eventually. But I did this easily. Also upgraded multiple guns and armor. Stop whining and realize you got better versions of your old gear.

2 RepliesPrecisely. I'm not hardcore, barely played the raid, but when I have the time I would attempt it. Now I have no motivation to do so. All my exotics are also worse than a noobs version. Why not actually let us progress rather than regress?!

I say file corruption since majority of the time it's often caused by something affected person has no hand in. In this case the players have no hand in it but the devs wanted to instead of abandon old equipment they decided to make them up to the new standard.

I never complaint and had a great time with this game but now it should give me a great experience to farm glimmer and coins/shards for hours/days just to be able to buy a "reset" of my hard earned (large amount of) exotics? It should give me a good time to go through the long lasting, frustrating, and iterative process of upgrading them AGAIN? Suddenly all the dedicated gamers who spent whole days in this game lack behind and need to catch up?! What about all my achievements? Where are they suddenly? Aaaaaaaand it's gone!
