For those of you that work at Bungie i know yall lurk on these forums O_O

luth411 1h 13m ago Permalink I hear you man. My friends and I were part of the group who was watching this game for years, and came from other Bungie communities. We feel your pain, but we stopped playing this game after a month. It was very clear that the game was gutted due to a number of issues with timing, budget, vision, etc. The conditions leading to the state of the live game are moot to the extent that we are here now. I'd encourage you to think on how feasible it is to continue supporting the product. The community will tell you that you are whining or entitled or disgruntled or a jerk. While some or all of these things may or may not be true, rest assured that you are justified in your frustration here. Join the rest of us in protest, and discontinue the use of these products/services. It will not change anything in terms of the direction of Bungie/Activision, but you will not feel added disappointment once you move through the grieving process. It really sucks that they dismantled the game and rebuilt it in this shallow, wonderbread version of Destiny. However, this is what it is. They aren't going to reverse a pivotal decision that changed the direction of the game less than a year before launch. Your best bet is to see if they take the time and budget needed for a sequel, but I wouldn't hold my breath. It is the creative tensions of competing visions between developer and publisher which ultimately decided the course of the franchise, and just from a business standpoint, I don't see why they would go back to the original intent. Activision understands that the existing game is a great product for a large market. It's accessible, has a learning curve that leaves room for novice and advanced players alike, it's a platform conducive for adding little DLC transactions (i.e. new speeder, new missions). While it disenfranchised the more hard core Bungie and online shooter demographic, this is a minority in the gaming industry today. Look at the community if you need evidence. Tons of people love the game, and feel it to be a great product. You can't argue their opinions. Frankly, you can't even blame Activision for making the smart play from a business perspective. In a way, we were shown Dark Souls with guns and later received Candy Crush Saga. As I say, it's wrong that Activision did what they did, but what's done is done. Some people like Dark Souls, some people like Candy Crush, some people like both. Activision is a firm, and firms like profit. They felt the revenue and cost related to making Dark Souls wasn't worth the trade off against revenue and cost of making Candy Crush. That's it. In a world where all that matters is quality and vision, a game like today's Destiny would fall woefully short. However, the market doesn't demand this. People want Skrillex, not Brubeck. Rather than sitting here and kicking and screaming, I would encourage you to recognize the difference in values here. I understand the feeling of disappointment and even betrayal by Bungie as a studio. Keep in mind, though, that the Bungie you remember does not exist today. The closest thing in terms of developer talent and philosophy would be 343 Studios as they retained much of the Halo team. This Bungie is a departure from that. This is a lesson for many of us to keep in mind going forward. Destiny is what it is, but it isn't what it was. That isn't inherently good or bad. It is, however, real. I and many others were in the same boat as you for a while. Don't come here trying to change something that has no interest in changing. The community likes the product, and Bungie will support that product. There's no incentive to resurrect the dream that was. A lot of good titles are coming out now. Join the rest of us in remembering what took place with this project and the firm responsible for it. Rather than create tension and disruption within a community which is drawn to the current state of the game, recognize that current state isn't what you want (or what was advertised, but that's beside the point now). Was it wrong? Immoral? Disappointing? I think it was all of these things. What can we do? Most people enjoying the game don't really grasp how it was being developed for so long. That speaks more to the idea that this isn't a game for the dedicated community. It's a game for those who just thought "Destiny? That sounds cool!" Doesn't this make you sad? It makes me sad Oh and concerning your forum category "Bungie : Don't make us kick your ass" please do so because it will probably be less disappointing than the effort put in the story. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this game, but god damn it could be so much more :/ right in the feels bungie, right in the feels

  • Your post comes of as a very intelligent plea for a video game you can play for days in your Mama's basement without needing to eat, sleep or shit. Good uck finding that game. And when you do, I will be joining you on that endeavor.

  • They already got our money. They don't care. The less we play is the less they pay for servers. So you'd be making them more money. Or helping them save money. The only real direction would be to no longer buy anymore things from bungie.

when i saw the trailers i was thinking " wow… thats looks incredible!' but then i heard activision was publishing or AKA " calling the shots" on this game, i instantly said "well there goes a possibly awesome game…. -blam!-!" i can't say I'm blown away by this game, but I'm also not too impressed. this game is graphically impressive and is entertaining at times, but the biggest problem i have this the insulting and almost trolling loot system. I've always said that a borderlands or even skyrim loot system would shoot this game up a bit but its too late for that. they won't do that, activision won't let them. the cryptarch is still the worst feature in this game, you might as well remove him and just leave it to end game rolls. it doesn't matter how much you tinker with that blue faced asshole. the lot system is still trash like a two dollar hooker's blow job. its not impressive, and it feels like shit and leaves you filled with disgust and a feeling of insult. i still enjoy destiny mainly cause i have friends that play and their fun as hell to play with, but if they left tomorrow morning, id probably just leave for awhile and come back when the next DLC drops and repeat the same process. i don't know, maybe i just still had hope that bungie would deliver like halo even though they had the worst company on the planet publishing their game….. guess not lol
