I'm in the market for a new headset at the moment.
I know you get what you pay for, but I am attempting to find the best headset for the money to use while playing Destiny.
If you could recommend one for under about $50, or maybe a little higher if you can recommend one that is definitely worth the extra few dollars, that would be great.

If PS4, I suggest going for broke and buying the Sony PS Gold headsets when coupled with the free PSN Headphone app with Destiny profile - gets you 7.1 surround. The mic is ok but what is cool is that it is built into the left ear piece with a volume control that allows you to do the chat level separate from the game level. Buy it in white as you can see the control lettering easily. They retail for $99.

I use the ps Vista ear buds. 20.00

I have the Astro A50's; I know you said decent price and at $300 that is clearly not in that range. But they are the best headphones I have ever had/used. They have 10 speakers in them (5 per ear), they are wireless unless you want to talk to your crew (then you need to use a cord between the headset and your controller), they also work on my TV ( no Xbox required), my computer, and my phone. I can literally hear the chests from yards away when on patrol, and have the mix amp included makes switching between the party and the game volume easier than turning on my tv. I know they are not cheap but they are the ish

I use XO Fours. No betters. No battery packs, $100, very convenient.

Turtle Beach PX4
-
Turtle Beach x12 best bang for your buck.
-
Tritton kama or the tritton kunai are fairly solid for entry level headsets
-
Afterglow 10$ and I have no lifed the shit out of them while on vacation. I never have to unplug because of feed back. I also don't send an echo through the mic when I have it turned up All the way. (Mostly def from the army).

Ps gold for 99 dollars they're pretty good
-
The gold wireless for ps4 is pretty good. They are normally 99.99, but Gamestop just had them on sale last week for 69.99 when I got them. Very good sound and comfy.
-
Turtle Beach X12 Wired 18ft In line volume control for chat and game with a bass boost. You will need to spend a little more but under 60.00 Mine are 3 years old and still work like when I bought them new.

Edited by Tibbaryllis2: 12/10/2014 4:29:37 PMTriton Kunai. Wired. $30. Fits large heads Very clear voice Can be plugged directly into controller Or Elaborate set up with volume controls Edit: I see a lot of people recommending these. I paid $30 for mine in August.

I bought the XBOX One Stereo Headset on Amazon for $49.90 and I absolutely love it. It is comfortable, has a stow-away mic, and comes with the controller adapter that you can just leave in the controller. I end up using the headphones for my phone and other devices too. Not sure what platform you're on though.
-
What system you on? Trytec Kunai are good for last gen and are around $60
-
Astros
-
Just get Astros, it's worth the $250!
-
Sennheiser X320 I think. Great headset, got mine for $38. Surround sound + memory foam.
-
Tritton Kunai, they cost 60 bucks, and they're good with both consoles. I know they also sell a Xbox One version that looks the same but with an adapter, not sure if you're on X1 though lol.
-
Skullcandy has a few ranging from 69-149 I believe and they teamed up with astro to make them. I personally got plyr2 and absolutely love them only down side is I bought the only damn pair that doesn't work on xbone or ps4
-
Turtle Beach x4 Four Zero.
-
i use astros a40 great headsets definitly rocomend
-
You can go on amazon and get turtle beach px21 for around 50 bucks. Only thing is on ps4 you can't seperate game and chat volume but it actually works well. You're ears aren't blown with chat even with that volume up some
-
Xp400s. Only 150
-
Skull candy is selling a new headset for 30 But turtle beach x12s are 60$ I recommend these
-
Imo the most important thing when looking for a gaming headset is the ability to adjust game/chat volume via the headset.. as ps4 does not give u this option..

I actually like the mono one you get with the PS4, its Discreet, I can leave it on my bedside, I can still hear the kids. However its a bit cheapy, I haven't been able to find a decent Mono, 1 ear mic/earpiece to replace it with. Any one come across a solution? the cost isn't an issue.
