Many people have now noted that Story missions (daily story or while leveling) do not give any progression towards weapon exp. my first question to bungie would be if this behavior is intentional and if so if why it is not stated in the reward screen.
Leveling weapons works a little bit different compared to armor. You will only receive experience from an enemy kill for the weapon you have done the kill with. you will not receive any information for any other equipped weapon. (all armor gets the same exp)
this makes heavy weapons a chore to level up. especially considering an exotic weapon needs 25.000 xp for every perk.
If Daily Story missions and also Patrol Missions would give xp to all equipped weapons players would have bigger incentive to play those types of content.
I am currently lvl 30 and leveling different weapon loadouts feels extremely painful. not due to the material needed but the actual experience. As I am swimming in mats I have no incentive to play the daily story at all and the only way to level my heavy would be doing bounties over and over again. not very fun eh?
What I would like to see:
- Story Missions giving XP to all equipped weapons
- Strike Completion giving XP to all equipped weapons
- Crucible Match Completion giving XP to all equipped weapons
your thoughts?

This needs a bump. This is odd, and I only noticed it recently. I also just noticed yesterday when I turned the difficulty meter up to level 28 for the daily heroic as i always do, it used to include "7800 xp" as one of the rewards listed for completion, in addition to acendant materials and and the cryptarch engram, marks, etc. Now, it does NOT include the xp at all, did they take it out altogether? Shit, I'd rather have the xp than 2 more damn shards. Can anybody confirm whether they just took the xp out of the highest level daily altogether?
