VoG and How to Use Motes of Light

Yes. Let's upgrade our VoG armor.

No. It should be the same as vendor gear now.

Proposal: Implement a system similar to the exotic reset for VoG armor. Trade in would be 10 Motes per piece of gear. The upgrade materials would be from the NEW raid. This keeps everything in harmony. This makes sense in that you are using light to increase the light level. No brainer. Reasoning: I launched a poll on keeping the VoG weapons relevant for the remainder of the Dark Below DLC (and they drop off for house of wolves while the DB content would push forward). Weapon poll if you'd like to vote:
http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/82288334/0/0
It kind of bothers me that the vendor gear will be at or above the performance of the raid loot. Other than a hard mode-only helmet with a mod that spawns orbs in 2 different ways (melee or precision kills against vex only), what's the point? Cosmetically the stuff looks ok, but why bother with it if the stats aren't any better AND the VoG loot system is remaining jacked (blam)! I'd rather just bounty my way to some vendor armor than put myself through RNG LFG forums and RNG VoG loot again. Final words: Offering players an outlet for better gear in BOTH raids keeps the VoG in the mix. Now, newer players will be excited to get a VoG piece of armor because it will be on par with everything else until the house of wolves hits. Then, the VoG gear drops off and the Dark Below gear gets a similar upgrade opportunity to go to level 34. It's progression. Yes things will become obsolete, but not the moment the next wave up updates hit the street.
Edit: 75% think the VoG armor shouldn't upgrade. Anyone care to share their thoughts? Everyone has an opinion. Feel free to explain your side of the argument. Edit2: Ok it's back the other way. 66% FOR the change.
• I respectfully disagree. I played a lot of WOW and it was just accepted that any new raid's gear simply trumps the raid that came before it. Look I understand that a lot people are going to be attached to their old gear, but that is precisely what it is. OLD GEAR. The gear that you got from VOG will give you an advantage in the new raid but eventually everyone will have to accept it. Out with the old and in with the new.

      • I disagree because i think regardless of the effort you put in the tier 1 gear should not be on par with tier 2 gear. Its not because i cant do it myself, its because if you could do that then what would be the point in the new gear? Even if you need material from the new raid it makes it pointless imo. Its good enough that bungie is allowing us to upgrade and keep our old exotics. Legendaries need to be replaced. When they finish the game and have released all the raids they should bring all of them up to the same level though on an optional difficulty

        • Unfortunately bungie just laughs at any suggestions to make the game better

          • Interesting. Not sure how I feel, but a well thought out idea for sure.
