Deej. Factions and Material Exchange.

Nice update. Problem is PVE players have no alternative path to avoid PVP for Faction Gear and Weapons. Please pass along to the Dev Team. 1.Restore the Farming Exchange. 2.Allow Vanguard Marks to purchase Faction gear. 3.Provide PVE Factions for gear diversity. FOTC seems a good choice for that. PVE players like factions also. Grinding to aquire their gear through farming destination material didn't bother me. I figured my opposite number who loves PVP hated having to play the Raid. So I didn't complain about searching for Relic Iron to achieve my Faction Goals. Now many like me are being forced into PVP to gain Crucible Marks to achieve those items. We would rather not. Please stop punishing PVE players. Thank you.

  • Agreed! Just give us Vanguard factions for gear/ weapon variety and we will all be happy. Or just have each of the factions offer PvE (patrols and strikes) bounties that allow you to rank up with them to buy their goods. Its really easy. And that way all of us lame and simple-minded strike and patrol PvE players won't have to interfere with the mental heavyweights in the Crucible and mess up their important and meaningful games. Why is this not an option?

  • I'm sorry but I can't for the life of me understand the mentality that prefers running from point a to point be and holding a button to an intense gunfight between two teams. Regardless of whether or not you think to balanced, you experience some lag, or you don't like competition, it's STILL gotta be more fun than farming. I would rather go into the crucible and die 15 times and get no kills than farm materials. What a tedious time waste. It had no engaging gameplay, it utilized little to no of the excellent shooter mechanics bungie has in destiny, and it offered little reward for time invested. My mind wants to explode when I hear people loved material farming. Do these same people also enjoy thumb twiddling and staring at walls?

    • I think they should ditch Crucible marks and just have Vanguard marks. The game has so many currencies: Motes of Light Strange Coins Glimmer Vanguard Marks Crucible Marks WHY!?

Factions accepting Vanguard Marks or dedicated PvE factions would negate the need for the mats/marks exchange, and I am FOR that. I never really minded the drudgery of Patrol because I'm on with my brother shit-talking and shooting the breeze the whole time. I hope they make Patrol more fun in the expansion.

        • The entire Market system in this game is lacking. Lacking options, lacking vendors, lacking exchange rates, lacking items, and sadly lacking creativity and apparently lacking direction. It's like they've been focused on a junior high shooter like Halo for too long, or something.

You're asking the dev team to change the game. They wanted those factions to encourage pvp. They should apply what you're wanting to a system that is nearly unused... Why not have a similar system with the vanguard instead? Have their own marks and own store. Separate them from the crucible store. Have the three vanguard leaders be different kinds of vanguard reps-- different bounties and currency (vanguard marks). Which means the vanguard store needs to change a little since their store is quickly outdated. Why not sell some randomized legendary engrams? Or legendary weapons (and gear) since the vanguard weapons are plentiful. That way each faction stays as they were, while we get an actual use out of our vanguard status. edit: they need to have a class item/emblem as well.

          • Another vote in favor of Bungie ADDING additional options that some players want, but not REMOVING an option that other players already love. Would it really have been that hard for us to have BOTH?!! This makes no sense Bungie!!!!

          • U picked a cruciable fraction knowing cruciable marks where required. Nobody in there right mind traded mats for marks. Stop crying about a good and usefull update. L2play

            • This. I am a PvE only player and have been leveling all factions, now that was pointless. It's bad enough I have to go into the crucible for exotic bounties.

              • Why didn't they just take away the option to trade materials for CRUCIBLE marks? Why not at least leave the Vanguard marks in place? It still gives the players that like farming, an option to do so. And something to reward them for their time. Makes no sense to me why they completely killed the trade in system for materials. So those 800 spinmetals that you have stashed away in your vault is useless! Get a grip Bungie and stop making stupid decisions. It's going to drive away your fan base!

              • Well said, Dezarath. I liked farming the barrens, the ember caves and archer. I don't like the crucible. Shotguns and fusion rifles ruin it for me. Sadly this makes the decision for me- won't be getting the expansion now. They're really trying to force this crucible on us. But I don't want destiny as a PvP game, COD is that for me.

                • I agree with most of this. But in all honesty is there anything worth having from the stupid faction vendors. Just put on their faction item and run normal pve. As you level your rep you will gain faction gear. But still none of the faction gear can get anyone to level 30, so honestly I find the whole faction system is crap. Only worth farming for the potential shaders.

                • i agree. as a PvE player in Destiny, there isnt much to do now. most of my spare time in Destiny was spent farming materials. what hapens now when people end up with an excess of materials. they should have the 'buy materials' AND the 'sell materials' option. 50 material for 5 marks was a good deal, so is the 20 materials for 10 marks, with both these deals available it will encourage people to give concideration to what they do with their rescources. as for farming being boring, so is sitting in a corner with a shotgun hoping that someone will wander around the corner. i understand that PvP players find PvE boring, but PvE players find PvP just as boring vice-versa. my opinion in short is that things need to be balenced for BOTH PvP and PvE players.

                  • The real problem is that that gear was a worthless dead end that wasted ascendant materials. This change helps you by making it more difficult to buy that gear. The thing that gets me about the exchange is that they gave you 5 marks for 50 materials. Now that they're selling materials it is 10 marks for 20 material. Greedy pawn shop basterds.

                    • Would be nice to have the option to trade either way, marks for materials and materials for marks. It's a shame you can't exchange vanguard marks for crucible marks, or at least have the factions accept either, that way pve and pvp players both have access to all gear, surely that makes sense.

                      • DITTO on the above. With this update Bungie makes it very clear that Destiny is mainly a game aimed at PVP players and PVE players are basicly getting screwed over since this change results in four factions for PVP and just one for PVE. This is truly the first time that i am sorry for having pre-ordered the expansion pack already.
