Elitist players don't just want to win...they want others to Lose

Putting it more simply, Destiny is like a race to the raid to hit the rng jackpot and I think that is absolutely bizzare for a game design. They do it for the Elitists tho. It's the way developers get the most play out of the most driven. The rest of us who wanted Destiny to be cooler than the local lottery machine at a 7/11 lost. We expected this great story and world to unravel, but we get a stupid pve contest that's all about how much you're willing to come back and play every week. They dumbed down this game to show that people who don't get on lfg guilds like total morons wading in a flood don't deserve shit. Well that's it, there's no content, just bullshit so certain weirdos can be a "level 30" and somehow this is just as good as having an actual game design. Even if you do raid, it's more of a cheesy game than an adventure. They don't even want casuals to have matchmaking even though they'd never have to use it. This game is nothing but CoD with the worst nerd bullshit from WoW. This game is only designed to serve the most basic and crude impulses of the most neckbearded of gamers. They design an rng that's rigged against their favor, so that when someone wins, they get to be a snowflake for a while and everyone else gets driven to be level 30 like rats on a hamster-wheel treading Destinylfg.com flood waters. Those of us that are actually good at pvp and pve are in the "idgaf" club. We know that everyone, even the best, wins and loses. We want things like content and story. We enjoy the escape.

    • Sorry, I don't need lfg, I play weekly with a group of friends and that's what keeps me coming back every week.

    • I think you're basing this on limited experience. Bungie's made huge walls against hardcore players; 100 mark cap per-week, Raid & Weekly challenge limits, a Vendor that sells the rarest of all gear using Coins that are more cost-efficient than Marks, and more. Guess what, when you put in 300+ hours in a game you're going to be leagues above the gent who's spent 125 in terms of what gear's available to that individual. With Matchmaking for the Raid all of the worst casuals (too unskilled to complete the VoG, LOL IMMA AFK!, The guy who eats something loud and crunchy in the mike and refuses to mute it so he can call out "Minphotor".) I will never defend the game's story, but I'll be damned if I don't say the Grimoire's a damn fine read.

      • I definitely agree with your last remark; I play because I want an escape. After a really stressful day at work whatever frustrations and worries going to the gym doesn't get rid of I like to play videogames for a while. And I have met some really cool people, and had lots of fun doing raids and strikes with them. And I suppose part of this is my fault for not knowing what I was getting in to, but a lot of the game just feels like work. It gets hard at times to get the motivation to do the same thing over and over again for the chance of getting the item you're hoping for. I can go to the gym and push myself through lots of things, I don't call off work even though I know it will be a crappy day, I (kind of) listen to my girlfriend complain about drama only women care about, but there are tangible rewards to all those things. Lately I don't feel that way about this game, getting duplicates (or even more) of stuff you already have is a big let down. And I get it's supposed to be random, but at the same time is it too much to ask that once you've got something it gets removed from the list of possible items, or it's percentage is reduced? This is my first experience with an rng system and I'm not a huge fan. But I can say destiny has taught me I probably need to stay out of the casinos or risk ending up in foreclosure.

      • Each update just seems to push us more towards PVP while PVE has taken a backseat since Queen's Wrath, and even that was just another bounty grind. I don't have any faith that the DLC will change this. They even removed the PVE way to earn Crucible marks for faction gear.

                      • Casuals can to do everything in the game, just like everyone else can, but you have to make an effort. I am not a casual, but I do the raid with randoms every week using this forum. Don't use the word casual as an excuse for laziness. Casuals raid in mmorpgs like wow just fine they make take longer to get there but they still can do it. Plus in a lot of games that have raids there are casual guilds/clans out there that are more relaxed than joining a hardcore raid/pvp guild/clan.

                        • Okay, so basically your saying players whom don't play the game should be rewarded and people whom play this a lot should be treated like wanted step children until they leave never looking back even once. (?)

45 raid clears. All using destinylfg. Everyone needs to stop complaining and make a -blam!-ing effort.

                          • I don't think Destiny punishes or rewards any particular "class" of player more than another. I don't have a clan and have no problem finding raiding parties by using these forums. I also have a level 30, a level 29 and a level 25 (soon to be 26-27) character. I probably play more than many players, but I have a job and a life and friends and family that I regularly spend time with. Hasn't kept me from achieving what I want to achieve in the game. I think that's why so many players (you call them "elitists") complain about the loot system. I agree: They don't care what they get as much as they care what others don't (or shouldn't, in their opinion) get. I've said it before and I'll say it again: That's f*cking pathetic. But at the end of the day that's on them. And I don't think the game rewards them any more than it does the average player, who apparently spends about 3 hours per day with Destiny.

                          • To your legitimate grievance I have one request and one question. The request: Read all of the civilized, well spoken, and polite feedback you have received from the post you have made from your peers who have clearly illustrated how superior they are than you because their opinion on a video game is more correct than your own. The question: Do you REALLY want to be like them? And one last follow up question. No seriously, are you really complaining because you are NOT like they are?

                            • If you don't put as much time as me or any other elite player, you don't deserve everything we have. You have the same opportunity to get the things I have, but you are not entitled to what I have if you don't put the time in. Simple as that.
