GOODBYE DESTINY- FUTURE OF GAMING?
As many others already have done, I am leaving Destiny and its community. This is not a flaming post but I would like to reach out to the people behind the game via some negative points that led me to this decision.
You see, I am an avid gamer and I incorporate into my everyday life a few hours of gaming on my PS4, (mostly at night while my wife is sleeping). I 've been a gamer all my life. And the worst feeling that a gamer can experience, is the feeling of being misled. And that's what happened to me with Destiny.
At two weeks time, me and my party of friends (8 in total) had already reached level 29 and there was nothing else to do but grind the same missions, the same planets, the same bounties, just looking for that next exotic drop or Xur or SOME form of excitment through playing football at the tower. It became obvious that to enjoy the game we either had to wait and pay for the expansion, play the raid OVER AND OVER AGAIN or just go sparrow surfing. Or go into pvp which believe me, becomes tiring after a few hours. If I wanted to play a competitive multiplayer game, i would log into Battlefild or Call of duty.
And thus, the question arises. Is this the future of gaming? Where players buy a semi-game worth of two weeks of game time (I finished the campaign in 5 days). In order to play more I have to pay more? Where are the vast worlds promised in the trailers? Was it all just a marketing gimmick? An mmmo/rpg/fps where there is NO interaction between players. Just gestures and dancing? Where are the thrills of exploring the world?
It frustrating to think that this is what we have to expect from now on in gaming.
The simple fact is this, and Bungie along with the other gaming companies will do well to remember: when I pay 70 euros for a game, I expect to buy a game. Not a prequel for things to come that will cost me more. This policy will keep me away from Bungie and from companies of the same ideology.
This message would be pointless if I was just one person.
But as you already know, the crowds cannot be fooled for long.

10 RepliesI found the remedy for everything that ails Destiny by shelving it, and replacing with [i]Dragon Age: Inquisition[/i]. [u]If you want[/u]: -Actual open-world exploration -Engaging story -A reason to fight/care for the world in which you play -Memorable characters/character development -Depth in many aspects You will find it in spades. Bioware really knocked it out of the park. I hung on as long as as I could; but there have been too many missteps and misrepresentations for me to believe that Destiny will be salvageable as a gaming experience. That said; I'll be back on the 9th to download the "expansion" because I bought the Limited Edition. Live and learn.

2 RepliesUnfortunately, this game is not really for avid or hardcore gamers like us. This game was dumbed down for the sake of newbies and children. If you just compare what we have now to what they originally teased us with 1-2 years ago, you can blatantly see that Bungie is trying to tailor this game towards the lowest common denominator now. Sad, but true. While the game is absolute sh*t for most of us real players, it is still a good intro game for people like my wife, who has never had any interest in FPS games until Destiny.

I agree that bungie gave players a half ass game and are making us pay for the rest of what we were promised 2 months later with part one of a high priced expansion pack but I haven't quit the game. I can honestly say I love destiny. No it's not a great game but for some reason I can't stop playing. I know the game has more than a few major flaws and I know we were expecting something revolutionary because of how much bungie promoted this over hyped game but I can't seem to shut destiny out of my life. Destiny is like that girl you sleep with one time but can't seem to get rid of.

Seems like your experience was far longer than mine. I beat the campaign in... two days or so, granted a binge played it though. Then I got 20+ in... idk... a day or so after I beat the campaign Then I got 27 in another 2 days... But really the game was over once I beat the campaign, everything after that was just meh grinding and replaying the same poorly done missions, and throwing my time in multiplayer matches. The game barely offers a week's worth of content, and that's only if you really want to spend your time grinding pointlessly. It's incredibly far from what it was advertised as, and it's just a disappointing game. Buying the DLCs is almost a must if you have any interest in knowing shit all about the universe Destiny takes part in, I'm still betting that this DLC had originally been planned to be part of the actual game until Activision came over and was like [quote]"Hey Bungie, how about cutting your game up so we can make some more DLC sales and have shit for the sequel? We can just sell whatever's left over and make tons, half these idiots are hooked and preordered the game already."[/quote] Anyway, I'll just leave this here http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/77690297/0/0 Post I made earlier, continues my rant, for those actually interested in hearing more of what you've probably already heard people say a million and one times.

You've spent all your time patrolling. 2) You've barely played the crucible. 3) Your character is a level 27. Basically is there anything in your post that is true? The raid you've never finished is repetative? This cracks me up. On the PSN only 23% of players have ever finished the raid on normal. Less than 10% on hard. Then they come here having failed and say they're leaving because the game is dull. Classic. You've failed to beat the game. You couldn't crack the raid and now you're leaving like a whipped dog with your tail between your legs. You've barely scratched the surface. If all you do is the strike playlists and replay the story and from your profile that is all you've done no wonder you're bored. Good riddens.

Edited by JD: 11/30/2014 2:30:01 AMThis game isn't for everyone and I respect your opinion but I have 300+ hours played along with my friends and we continue to enjoy doing strikes, the raid 6 times a week, weekly nightfall and heroic, daily story mission, PVP, bounties and ranking up our factions and weapons but like I said it's not for everyone. Also from looking at your stats you mostly do patrol so I can see why you're extremely bored and you never even finished the raid yet you said "do the raid over over and over" which makes no sense to me but hey see ya!

Try Far Cry 4 or Dragon Age - it makes me cry to think how good Destiny would be with as much story and content.

Instead of making a whole thread about this, just do the normal thing. Put the game in a box, buy something else to do. Come back in December for the DLC. Rinse and repeat until Destiny 2 and literally every other modern game. Your disappointment is not special. Every game suffers from people like you who expect more from nothing.

It costs more and more to make/host a game, and every company regardless of product would rather sell you add ons than make entirely new things. The nature of business is to sell consumers the least they are willing to buy at the highest price they are willing to pay. The nature of marketing is to make it seem like the extension is a ot more for only a little extra money.

1 ReplyThere is no exploration .. They even changed the free roaming area from exploration to patrol from the beta to the semi-game.. Even Bungie knew that calling it exploration was false.. This is my last day with this game too.. I'm sad to say it, but I'm gone too.. I'm heading back to a proper rpg like FF14 where there is a million things to do... And then some.. Destiny has become a joke.. We are doing the same shit everyday and its become very veft borning.. BUt Bungie don't give a crap about us because they got our money....

I agree. I'm almost done with this. I'm sticking around for the DC because I was a fool and paid for it. I've got Borderlands and Dragon Age sitting on the shelf calling me. I've never been disappointed with those franchises.

I'm glad to see you haven't logged into Destiny since the beginning of October. Most people who post these topics are simply raging because they are weak ass beta males who can't handle getting their ass handed to them in PvP or the fact that RNG is RNG and as we know, RNG is a cruel system to use for loot purposes. I actually read your post (only because you haven't played in such a long time) and I agree with you. This game is awesome! It just couldn't hold my attention for longer than a few months. Hell, I even took a few 3-4 day weekends from work to play it with my friends who don't have weekends off. Destiny won't die. There will be a (relatively) small group of players who will continue to play it as they are hooked. The game appeals to them and that's fine. It just doesn't appeal to us.
