Teleported to Venus or Venus?
Ok so I am getting pretty annoyed by how everyone doing the VoG thinks that the left portal is mars. It's VENUS! Why would anyone think it's mars? The stone layout is 100% identical to the layout to the stones on Venus, during the raid and the jungle portal! Why would Atheon teleport you to Mars when the entire raid is set on Venus!
I get so much crap each week from my "friends" because they think it's mars because the lighting is red, where on mars is there any red lighting like that? You never see that on mars, an it's only there so you can tell the difference between the two, how annoying would it be if both were jungles? If you actually examine the environment in the left portal it has many features similar to Venus like the green glowing pools and stalagmites... None of which are located on mars!
Now I'm a LEGIT!!! level 30 with the vex mythoclast, the mythoclast I got fighting oracles and Atheon on Venus! So I think that my word and opinion should be taken as law as well as everyone else who agrees with me. Do all you idiotic doubters see the light? I am right and I hope that eventually we will stop calling it mars because we aren't giving it the respect it deserves!

Because when first running thru, and not really paying that much attention to the scenery, u see red and think mars. Its not about "lighting" its about the general colour because I wasnt looking at the lights, I was looking at the enemies. but yeah, you are totally right and thanks for pointing it out. I see the light!

I'll look later when I have time but there's no reason it can't be Mars. Space time displacement. Means in a different point in time that the vault could have been on Mars. The game says there were tons of vex ruins on Mars and they've been there a long time. In game Venus is a jungle planet, pre traveler it would be filled with some pretty bad corrosive gas. It could be assumed that by its nature that the vault can be moved through space time and exist wherever the Vex want it to. With a time shift where you end up would be determined by the relative nature of the time shift. If it is assumed that it would use some form of universal fixed point system then you would end up somewhere in space since everything around us is technically moving all the time. Other options would be fixed point on planet or fixed point in vault. The last is more likely since the vault itself is based around attempting to manipulate space time and reality itself.

2 RepliesGreat rant! So by "Legit 30", do you mean you're just luckier than all of the level 29's? I'm hoping you aren't saying you never pushed atheon off the cliff. Cause looking back through your raid history i see you and "big shocker" a 29 WARLOCK 2 manned the raid in which you had 0 kills and 15 deaths. If that was a "legit" completion, i'd like the walkthough video. Looks like you're just full of shit, and cheesed him like the rest of us.

I usually call out Red Portal/Green Portal. People seem to get confused with Left/Right, Past/Present, and even the dreaded Mars/Venus for some strange reason. Though in fairness, anybody who's not incredibly daft could simply look at the mini-map and see the obvious.

Yeah people are stupid :) If people can't understand that they are travelling in a timestream (it says this on the screen) and that the layout is identical to the present (only you are ported to where Atheon spawns in the present) then they are again, dumb. That is why left and right works better, because it's the portal you exit from. Also it reminds you which way to turn when you exit the portal to run to the centre. Dumb ideas have a way of hanging around though. They have a legacy all of their own, and in a strange way that too has some sentimental value :)

I'm actually opening the portal before anyone tells me where they are because you can see where they are on the minimap. No need to argue if they're in past/present venus/mars. Nobody cares

I know both are located in the same place on a different time but it is easier to identify. I usually say right, green, Venus all together and never had a problem then. Left portal is the future in a wasteland venus while right is primal Venus? Then again it could be visa versa.

I know it's Venus past and future however, given the ease of understanding for whoever is left on the outside people will continue to call it Mars/Venus. I'm ok with that because if you are teleported nothing like saying I'm on Venus and please open the door....nothing happens. Quick open the Venus past!!!! .....what? open the Venus past!!!.....what???? Nm.....wipe open the left portal....what..left coming in ? right!.....ok... wtf??? I said open the left portal!!! you said right!!!! WIPE...Rage quit!!!! so please call it Mars and Venus for that matter pick any planet to call it... Just not Uranus!!! cause no one will ever say... quick open Uranus!!! and if they do....WIPE AND RAGE QUIT!!!

I say either left or Mars because it's easier for people to understand. Which means no one gets confused, which means no wiping.

It's easier to say mars or desert. Who the -blam!- wants to argue with their team or get confused as to whether they are past or present Venus. 1/2 of people can barley even beat atheon, I really don't feel like trying to tell them if they are past or present during teleport. When they can just say Venus or mars. It's simple enough and it works.
