Repeated lost connections to Destiny servers - since patch

Since the recent patch I have experienced random disconnects, predominantly experiencing the error relating to a loss of connection to servers. Additionally I have started to see the pop-up message saying 'connecting to world' displayed as im playing - similar message dialogue that is seen when a player joins your fireteam. Usually this message happens when I am grinding for mats on patrol missions. The most recent disconnect was only a few minutes ago - I was solo'ing the weekly heroic and 3/4 way through the final boss BOOM disconnect... not a happy chap as I was doing pretty well and I was in the zone. Somehow I actually maintained connection to the Destiny servers during the supposed disconnect, the screen went black then I was just sitting in my ship in orbit twiddling my thumbs. I'm sure my in game character was as irritated as I was, as he sat in his cockpit wondering why we're both magically in orbit, having just been in the middle of a boss fight. I had to log off before my character discovered a distinct lack of strange coins in his backpack - I didn't want to be there when he found out :/ I love Destiny and can forgive most things but the disconnections seem to come along as the most awkward times, often punishing me as it always seems to be when im towards the end of a strike or mission. If my character had emotion or some sense of self awareness I'm pretty sure he would refuse to go anywhere near an instance, for fear of just wasting time. In fact - I wouldn't blame him if he just wanted to stay in orbit chilling in his ship. I have a very fast and stable internet connection on VIrginmedia - I stream media and play other games with no issues. Things like COD etc display me as open NAT and I don't get any disconnections - even during the long play sessions. I'm also hardwired in so it's not anything with my home Infrastructure. Bit of a long one this - I'm not looking for a silver bullet but just be good to understand that the disconnections are being looked into and please please fix before the DLC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please!! I'm worried my character will go on strike so I can't play :(

  • This is servers fault....Is impossible i can play 3 days without any problem and for 1 day i cant go in tower simply ...Weasel, centipede, cloudberry, disconnections, ecc..... Ive paid for this game ....For playing not for watch it dont working....FIX

  • I can no longer play for more then maybe 20 minutes but most of the time its less like I just tried to do the daily and got kicked before the intro was finished playing

        • Same here on ps4. It's worst on patrol missions and has been ridiculous the last 2 days. I have even had speedtest running while it's "contacting destiny servers" and my speed/latency is fine. Also does not affect crucible, don't think it has ever kicked me pvp

          I really do like this game and put up with the bugs because it has been the most fun and time I've spent on a video game in years. Ever since the patch it has become unplayable. I created and alt today since I have the extra gear to get him to 30 if I can get him to 20. Well unless I just want to play crucible and never be able to farm materials on any planet but the Earth, I am not going to be able to do so. It literally disconnects me every 10 minutes. Sometimes 5 times in 5 minutes. I've opened ports, hard booted my system, deleted and reinstalled, and even gone as far as to hire and pay an electrician to run an ethernet cable from my modem to my living room which is 1000 feet away. All other games and devices work perfectly. How can I produce a song on Abelton and use online equipment to master it (this takes much more bandwith) but not be able to play a videogame?! This is not my internets fault, I have top of the line speed at 200 mbs via Comcast Xfinity. This is your servers' fault. Get your shit together before the DLC. If it is not resolved by then I will be starting a petition for refunds of the DLC. Just google destiny servers and you will see thousands of blogs saying the same thing. It makes no sense why pvp works, but pve does not. For the love of all that is right get to work and fix your shit. If you do so I will be a loyal advocate fanboy for years to come. Please understand that I don't wish to be disrespectful, but your servers have been disrespecting the time I put aside to explore your game, and my time is very valuable. Just get on it before you kill your own game.

          • Same thing has been happening to me. Error codes HAWK CATERPILLAR and CENTIPEDE. This is only when destiny allows me to see an error code. More likely than not it just kicks me to the home screen and disconnects me from Xbox live so there is no error code in the message, just a snarky remark about needing to be connected to Xbox live. And all this happens just after I spent an additional $35 just to get that damned speeder a little bit sooner. Hands down the most frustrating thing this game has done so far..

            • I'm am having the same problems. The most annoying party is I can't get in to the tower without help. I have to be in someone's fire team and have them take me down to the tower. I haven't been to the tower in three days. Please get this fixed.

            • I can't play the game any more at all. I can't finish a single mission before the game disconnects me. Every other game works except Destiny. All my other friends have and Xbox 360 with Comcast, just like me. But their games work and my game does not. I keep getting the error code, " Caterpillar," and I read to change my port forwarding. I did that with the help of Comcast Technical Support and then they sent a repair man to my house to check it out and they couldn't figure it out either. I simply can't play the game any more. I need help.
