Don't knock it until you try it. When I got it off an engram I thought it was the worst exotic in the game. Who the hell cares about trip mine time? I decided to screw it and try it out anyway and never looked back. It absolutely destroys in PVP. 10 seconds is nothing for a trip mine, but bump that to 30 seconds? You lock down an area, doorway, hall, etc for a very good amount of time. On top of that if you have maxed out discipline you can have two mines out for a short while or have a mine ready right when the other one blows. It really is my favorite exotic hunter armor for PVP and I own all of them all maxed out. I think people need to actually use it and realize it turns the trip mine into a possible claymore without diminishing it's use as an active grenade in any way. By using it as a claymore you do two things; 1) Force people to play more cautiously affecting their play style. If you force someone to look around every corner and play it slow the trip mine has already proved valuable. Even if they shoot the mine, the hit box is TINY, and they have to spend the time to ADS and take it out each and every time. Though no one ever does that... 2) People who don't look for mines (majority of players) end up running by and dying to it and with max discipline I have another on the way. Furthermore, special weapon reload is useful for those who run with fusion rifles or shotguns and its the only way to increase reload outside of weapon perks. Ever since I've used it I've had way more double, triple, multikills because I throw it at high traffic areas, leave and go after someone/thing else and end up with a ton of kills off grenades. Absolutely, love it and plus it looks bad ass. Example: On recent game, maybe the closest I've ever had... It was in Iron Banner on Twlight Gap. The whole game is aback and forth from start to finish. My team has kept A the entire time, the other team has kept C the entire time and B was battled for over and over going back and forth. Both teams get to 19000+ and the game starts to come to an end. They hit ~19700 and we're at ~19300. We take B and I throw my trip mine against the wall. They're coming for A to get the last kills they need. My team and I all converge on A and a battle ensues. Bladedancer on our team takes out a few, we jump up, I get a kill, we jump up again, we bridged the gap. Another team mate gets a kill near B. Someone goes after him and kills him. HOWEVER, he goes and tries to take cover in the cage over at B and dies to the trip mine I placed there over 15-20 seconds ago and that's the final kill we needed to win. This doesn't happen every time, but it happens often enough to take notice and for me to love YAS. tl;dr YAS is fine the way it is. People need to try it before they knock it. It's an absolute killer in PVP. I rather have a 30 second trip mine than two trip mines that last 10 seconds and a shared initial cooldown.
