Nightfall solo pain!
Edit3: This is an old thread from november, back when the nightfall was lvl 28.
OK, so I'm pretty sure you guys (& gals) at Bungie didn't intend to make this week's nightfall unplayable for us solo players but I can assure you it succeeds at being one thing: a rage inducer! I've tried 6 times now with my fully equipped lvl 28 Hunter w/ arc damage weapons and I'm walking away now. No more pointless deaths for me. You should really fix this. I love your game even with it's issues & have been impressed by your willingness and ability to listen to community feedback and implement changes. Here's my problem: I'm a new dad nursing a baby at home. I don't want to play PVP and prefer playing PVE solo since at any moment I might have to put the controller down and see to the needs of my little one. This week's extreme nightfall challenge is just the tip of the iceberg. I cannot tell you how many times I get kicked to orbit during missions because I have to do a diaper change. On top of that I feel your game discriminates against the solo player when most endgame content is geared towards either the PVP crowd or Raiding w/a group. I'm asking you all to please, please find a way to alleviate this. I know I'm probably not playing your game the way you intended but that's precisely my point. Myself and a lot of other solo players will be onboard for the long haul if you include us in your grand plan. Thanks for (hopefully) listening.

(#2): Thanks again for all the tips, offers, and rational comments, opinions, etc. I realise I shouldn't necessarily use this week's nightfall as my prime example but my main concern about solo content stands. The nightfall is doable - I've already done it with my 29 warlock - it's just harder. That worries me as a primarily solo player who actively enjoys the game and nightfalls are really the only solo PVE endgame content so far, if you can even call them that. It's nice to see a lot of you agree with me.
I'm on PS4 and don't even have a mic for it yet.

I soloed it twice already.

It's far from discriminating when the point of a mmorpg is team play. Soloing is to level you to get to that point. The issue I have is the lack of match making for nightfall, heroics, and raids.

Well the thing is my friend, I share your pain but I am quite familiar with mmorpg's and end game content is always raids and dungeons meant for parties with the point of getting end game gear. Strikes and raids are meant for cooperative team play not solo. As for your being kicked to orbit problem, many game companies enable a kick timer to prevent people from leaving to do something for long periods and flooding servers with afk players

1 ReplyYeah yet another solo tear feast. Bungie designed the game to be a team game not solo they have tons of ways to get two other ppl to kill the nightfalls. If I want to do the end game hard stuff find ppl it's not hard. Quit clogging up the forums with crying.

I'm glad that story like yours are posted. I have a problem with time management too. I don't want to be forced to do the raid dozens of times to finally achieve level 30. I don't dare to do the nightfall alone, in the end, it could be just a waste of time. Hope that somebody in Bungie is reading the posts.

Nightfall is supposed to be challenging, especially for solo players. You should have the expectation of not being able to complete every nightfall solo. What would be a nice enhancement though is if Bungie allowed the strike playlist to have solo options (i.e. no matchmaking).

5 RepliesThe Devil's Lair was the first NF I tried to solo when it came around last. I can't count how many times I died back then. This time, I died when I got careless. It felt easier, though I guess the majors were buffed. I think the big difference between then and now is a) solo'ing these strikes has made me a better player--I've learned to switch between all three weapons to fit the need, throwing in supers and grenades when appropriate; and b) maybe even more important is that I had all 300-power weapons to bring to this party this time, a Cryptic Dragon scout, Patience and Time, and an arc 300 Deviant Gravity machine gun. Those captains that were so tough last time pop pretty easy now as the P&T pops their shield + damages them about a quarter to a third, and I think if I can headshot them while the shield is down, kills them outright. And it one-shot-crits all the yellow sniper reavers too, so those aren't a pain anymore (plus, the cloak makes lining up the shot easy), and 2-headshot's the first boss.

1 ReplyI mean look, there's no doubt this week's nightfall is TOUGH as f*ck for solo players. After the third or fourth time I got killed during the fight with Prime I also just walked away. It is ridiculously hard (and I've soloed every nightfall for the past month). That said, I really don't agree that Bungie needs to "fix" anything. It's not broken; it's just not what you prefer. I get that you prefer solo play. I do as well (hence why I tend to solo all the nightfalls). But it's also good to push yourself and try things you wouldn't normally do. I had to really break out of my comfort zone for the Raid and take a chance on this forum and finding people to play with. And it's worked out beautifully. I've met some awesome people; met some assholes too, but hey that's life. I guess what I'm saying is, give the co-op thing a chance. I understand that your life demands a lot right now, and solo play may be easier to work in. But I really value Destiny's co-op stuff and how it pushed me to reach out and make new friends through the game. I never thought I'd be able to do it. But I did. And I hope they keep that element of the game the same, because coming this far I don't want to go back to how it used to be for me.

I'm a new dad too and also balancing my desire to keep playing and having to watch my baby girl at all times! And yea I've done this nightfall solo before but after this update I do agree that I was unable to actually take it all the way to the end lol hopefully they fix this

1 ReplyI managed to do it on my Titan and both warlocks. Was harder than usual though. There is a youtuber, Dattodoesdestiny, who did a solo video with lots of tips that helped me a lot.

It's almost impossible to solo a 28 strike at 28. You need to be at least 29

Figuratively speaking, but if you have the weapon then its a good idea to use it. I found myself turning invisible, peeking for a bit and the soothing for a second or two and then hide again untill I turned invisible again. Repeat untill you win. If you still can't do it look for help on the forums. I'm sure people won't mind as long as they know before hand that you will most likely have to put the controller down. I do unserstand and sympahize with you though. Bungie thinks people will always have someone to play with. That is not the case.

I agree with you, I do like soloing strikes. Today I was all the way to sepiks and had to attend to a work related issue. I found a place to park my warlock and handled the situation. It took about 15 minutes. When I returned I had been kto for inactivity. What a bummer. I wish Bungie would take into consideration players that prefer to solo. I would wager a guess that there are more people who prefer to solo than not. I am willing to do both but a lot of folks aren't.

One of the recent patches stated that solo runs would be more difficult than in a group. If you use the right spots for the sepiks prime strike it's still fairly easy solo.

your lvl 28. if you were lvl 29 or 30 it would ve slot easier
