The Wrong Way to Send a Raid Invite

So I'm in the tower turning in my bounties before changing characters to go play some IB when I get a message from a random 29. All it says is "VOG hard?" Since I've already beaten the raid on hard on all three of my characters this week I replied with a simple "No". Now I always get a little depressed when I see another message coming back after that response. Most of the time, the follow up is, "why not?", which is a really dumb question to ask. What are you going to do when I tell you that I've already done it? Change my mind? If someone declines a raid invite, suck it up and move on. The forums and destinylfg exist for a reason. This particular 29 in his infinite wisdom sent back the following "i love u 30s u think your better but your not u were a 29 once". Don't assume what other people's motivations are. Don't antagonize or provoke someone you're asking to help you. And FFS people, please try to exercise a little civility both on the forums and in game. I promise you will get much better results.

  • I understand your situation and you didn't deserve that. The issue causing this is the level capping which creates this class issue between 29's and 30's and results in raid spamming of the 30's. Honestly you read the forums jorx....so many 30's shut people out. It goes from everyone helping everyone else out to 30's only (again, not all, but a lot). Unfortunately it creates a perception of being elitest. I know that's NOT what you're doing...but unfortunately there are 30's that are that give ALL 30's a bad name. Likewise it puts 29's in a place of desperation and in a defensive place. 29's shouldn't be quick to assume when a 30 politely says no that it's because they themselves are not a 30. Either way, everyone needs to practice civility out there. As a 29 myself t has gotten very frustrating for 30's being "30 only". The spirit of doing VoG has changed from getting together with a bunch of people to having conditions placed and almost feeling you have to have an exclusive pass to get in as a 29. Everyone needs to learn to be a bit more civil out there. Again, sorry that happened to you man. People have to grow up.
