Changes to Make This Game Better

Hello, I have put a fair amount of time into Destiny, and I would like to share my opinion for changes that I believe to keep things game alive for a long time. 1.) Loot System: My biggest problem to this game is the loot system. Outside of the weeklies and raid, difficulty has no bearing on loot drop chance or loot quality. I understand part of this may be due to encourage friends of different levels to still play together, but when my friends of equal level play, there is no reason to up the difficulty more than once for the heroic skull. Loot drop chance, loot quality, and level of loot should increase as difficulty increases. This will encourage players to constantly try for harder difficulties for better loot. 2.) Raid Gear RNG: My other biggest problem is the RNG for raid gear. I have friends who have run the raid literally three times and have gotten raid boots, chest, and gloves. I have run an entire raid much more than that and have yet to get anything more than 1 pair of boots. My suggestion to fix this is to have a separate faction reputation and respective currency tied to each raid. That way every time you raid, you are at least getting reputation and points that can be used to buy raid level gear. It sucks to spend time playing a game only to get more shards/energy that you do not need. Essentially, it feels like a waste of time as you did not make any progression for your time. [b]This is the biggest letdown that can be experienced in any game, especially an MMO-like game.[/b] Players should always be progressing anytime they play, which brings me to my next suggestion. 3.) [b]There needs to be a system for unlimited progression[/b]. Let's look at Diablo. The reason D3 is played so much is that there is always progression with paragon rank. Even Borderlands had a similar system with badass rank. The unlimited leveling system does not have to be like Diablo where you get more health, defense, damage, etc., but it could at least give bonuses loot drop chance, loot quality chance, increase glimmer, etc. I believe it would be best to have a slight increase to damage, health, recoil, and such as in Borderlands. This could be a separate stat that does not carry into pvp if people are worried about unbalanced pvp. If there is a problem with people only playing one character to maximize this benefit, just have to carry to all characters (as Diablo 3 does.) I believe this is the best thing any game can do to increase its life. 4.) Purchasing Loot: I do like the current system for earning legendary armor. I like the idea of being able to purchase gear to be able to raid, ad having the raid gear be better. However, I feel like Xur selling almost every exotic is a horrible idea. Sure, he can sell some gear, but it would be much better if the best gear had to be earned. It would definitely make it much more rewarding. (On a side note: having the raid helm only drop on hard is a bad idea. I should be able to get all level 30 gear on normal.) 5.) Multiple Difficulties: There should be multiple difficulty levels for the raid (similar to Diablo’s and Borderland’s monster power level.) It does not have to drop higher level light gear, but could simply drop gear of higher stats or even all three stats. It should be possible get 100% reduction on all three abilities. It just requires you to run the raid on a very high difficulty. 6.) Excess shards/energy/strange coins/motes of light: It would be nice if there was a way to turn shards, energy, strange coin, and motes of light into other resources such as spinmetal, relic iron, spirit bloom, and helium filaments, as well as strange coins, motes of light, etc. All you would need to add is vendor who will trade with you. 7.) Match Making for Raids/Weekly: I do not think this game needs a match making system for these events. There are already excellent websites such as destinylfg.com and destinylfg.net. However, if this was added to the game, it should have the option to only search for players of a certain level or class. Basically it would be an in-game version of destinylfg. I do not want to be paired up with any random person. Sometimes I am looking for only 28’s and up. If it was just a random match making, there would be a lot of people getting mad for getting booted by the leader as soon as they joined the group. There are still minor changed that need tweaking such as more recoil for certain auto-rifles (looking at you Suros Regime), but these changes I believe would add much more fun. [b]The biggest disappointment to the game is a lack or guaranteed progression.[/b] Spending a couple of hours every week to raid, and only getting shards/energies makes me feel like I am wasting my time. I would almost rather just stay a 29 and wait for the expansion. Being able to turn shards and energies into other materials would at least make a raid full of shards/energies a little better. As stated before, adding unlimited progression as well as purchasable raid gear for those unlucky enough to get it to drop would be a huge improvement.

  • What would be nice is if getting behind an enemy you insta kill them with an animation. Hunters slit their throats, Titans beat them to death, warlocks drive their melee through them and dissolve a big hole.

  • They should allow you to play longer than 10 minutes without disconnecting you. It's hard to do anything in 10 minutes.

    • bumping this. would really want to see the exotic cap raised also. alone thing that would make the grind <cough> game fun for me again. PvE exotic cap b4 I get flamed.

      • This is very well constructed and brought to the forums in a great manner. I appreciate this feedback a lot. I like all your ideas, and I'm in firm agreement about the loot drops. There isn't essentially any point to them anymore. My "chances" of getting an exotic are out weighted by the wait for Xur. I however LOVE Xur, because right now he is kind of the "fix" for RNG being so poor to people who play a lot. I for example run the raid all the time and help others too. I've only ever received my boots and gloves. No chest. No helm. So I'm thankful I have Xur to still keep me occupied with new guns and armor pieces to try out. Since I can't constantly run the raid and receive loot all the time. Thanks to Xur I almost have every exotic armor piece for every class :) it's great to mix it up with those armors. I also like the approach about constant progression. Even if light levels didn't move up, but to have a "better reward" system in place would be awesome. Especially one you could slightly level by playing a lot. The cryptark is "slightly" that. After all you rank with him. He should give you better gear after a while...but man, love me some BLUES apparently. Then a letter sent to me with just blues...it's wonderful. (Not really) Keep deliver feedback like you have and eventually we will all steer destiny in a better direction. Right now it's a good game, I just want to see a constructive community make it great.

        • I am in complete agreement with you, my real life friends who quit playing the game said they stop playing for all the above reasons and would come back to the game if they made the above changes.
