My take and future with Destiny

I decided that I would take a moment to comment on Destiny in the most polite way I can muster with the hope that someone at Bungie is paying attention. First, I'd like to start with commendations. This game blew my mind when I started playing it. Unlike many on these forums, I have no complaints about some imagined "lack of content". On the contrary I think the content is great. I like that the content allows the player to basically choose how difficult they want their gameplay to be on a mission by mission basis. Some days I just want to skate by and choose the first hardcore selection; other days I get down on level 28. I look forward to the Nighfall and Weekly missions every week (although I admit, having the Weekly be the same as the Nightfall week after week is sort of a bummer). I've got a great group that I play with and everyone is rearing to go on Tuesdays. The strikes are a great addition, rather than a boss fight you made a boss mission and that commendable. I can distinctly remember the first time I did each strike and can also remember the first time I did each through the Tiger Strikes. Friday's are raid nights for my group - still haven't beaten it on hard but actually I don't mind. Normal is fun, gives us a chance to hangout and I figure as everyone gets the gear, we'll eventually beat hard. The encounters in the raid...wow. I think the Gorgon part is just a stupid addition (honestly, not sure who thought that up at Bungie but it's pretty lame...) but aside from that, the encounters are epic. My favorite is still the Templar...or rather, the fight to get to the Templar. Dodging hobgoblins, trying to take out all the oracles, while being rushed by Goblins, harpies and the occasional minotaur...it's a great rush. All of that being said, let me elaborate on my future in Destiny. When Destiny was first release, I like many others had some connectivity issues. After I set a static IP and forwarded ports, everything worked brilliantly. I play for a solid month and half with no issues whatsoever. Enter the 10/28 update. As soon as Bungie updated on 10/28, things took a turn for the worse. I started by getting disconnected once or twice an hour. A week later, that was increase to 5-6 times and hour. Here, nearly a month after the 10/28 update, I am still getting constant disconnects. I've tried the trouble shooting - changed my modem/router, deleted the game and reinstalled it, I'm always wired but tried wireless to see if it would help (my router is literally 2 feet from my console), deleted system cache, tried another modem/router combo, contacted by ISP to check for any packet loss issues in our area, asked them for trace routing which worked fine, tested my speed myself, did trace routes myself. I'm pretty sure I've exhausted all of my options. With that said, Destiny has a big update coming up and, to be honest, I'm really excited about it. I want nothing more than to play the update. The truth is though, I'm not able to play much at all anymore due to the constant disconnects. So with that, unless a miracle occurs and somehow Bungie manages to fix these issues, I will be taking my copy of Destiny into my local Gamestop and selling it when the update is released. I really do hate to do it...I love this game. It's the most fun console game I've played since Halo 2 (I still don't get why Halo 2 gets such a bad wrap...). So this is it, my final plea to you Bungie. I've posted regarding my issues and the issues continue. Despite your updates, they continue. It's actually quite confusing to me, being that this game is made in association with Activition, that there would be such horrid server issues. Can the folks at Bungie not sit down for a little pow-wow with the folks from Blizzard to get some help on the server issues? Anyway, I digress. To those at Bungie, respond if you want...don't if you don't want. I hope you do and I hope you fix the issues surrounding the disconnects. I've been a loyal customer for many years and could continue that trend if only there is progress made.

  • I didn't read the whole thing. It became a chore after "the game is full of content". At this moment there's 6-8 hours of content a week. A terrible story, the destiny servers are horrid, level 30 is only obtainable by winning the loot lottery and crucible...I won't even go to that dark pit.
