Nightfall Solo Guide/Strategy 11/25

This week is The Summoning Pits for the Nightfall. Anybody have any good advice for completing it solo? I wanna start a thread to give good pointers for soloing the Nightfall or even with a fireteam. It's always a good thing to know what you are getting into prior to attempting it. So any tips on this week's nightfall? (edit: from the responses I will list preferred methods) *Heroic Modifiers* : Epic, Juggler*, Angry, Void Burn*, Nightfall *Be mindful of the Juggler Mod which means the gun class you are holding will not have get ammo drops so switching up your guns frequently should balance the ammo drops. Ice breaker is a good gun to have for this Mod. *Void Burn is active so equipping guns with this element will increase its damage as well as the enemy's weapons too. Part 1 : If you are under leveled or want to play it safe I recommend the staircase foyer area when facing the three waves of enemies in this first part. Thralls will rush immediately and from the top of the staircase you should feel pretty comfotable wiping them out. After the thralls you can pretty much peek out and kill the acolytes and knights. This next wave is similar to the first but the knights will have swords/melee now but same idea. The last wave is the wizards, when they spawn run to the top of the staircase and lure them to you. Solar guns are great for these guys. This is the hardest part of this strike so with patience and cautious moves you should get the hang of it. Part 2: This part is easy because you are pretty much just making your way to the Boss fight. Again with Nightfall active be cautious and slowly make your way past all the enemies. There is an Ogre in a chamber you will encounter as well as a knight. Keep your distance and you will be fine. Part 3: Last time I did this Nightfall I used the main entrance room right before the shrieker room and sniped Phogoth. Takes a while but it's a safe way of doing this. There will be knight and wizard spawns at the entrance but they despawn fairly quickly so just keep your distance. Be minful of the front room because a Shrieker will spawn and he can kill you very quick so try to avoid this room. Goodluck guardians!

Solo'd it last night..... 1) After clearing initial mob upon entering the refinery and dispatching Dinklebutt go to your left past the train the enemy will not come all the way down to you so just pick them off one by one. I used TDYK and P&T for snipers, Unfriendly Giant (w/arc) for Captians. 2nd wave I used VoC to take down the Shanks then back to TDYK 3rd wave rinse and repeat above. Tank- this is by far the easiest part once you enter the area take an imediate right and get in the corner against the wall there will be no captian spawn and with P&T just pick off his legs he wont even fire a shot at you. This will take a little time since you will need to use ammo packs and wait for the cool down. When he goes down, jump on your sparrow and zip to the area on the far right corner pick off the 4-5 blocking the door leading to the boss. Finally the Boss: For this room clear the area and as Septicus comes to life go to the little room on the left NOT the room with the window. The room that looks like a little hallway. The trick here is to fire several shots at Septicus then get ready for Shanks, 2 will come from the front and 3-4 from behind so peek out and take them down, VoC is a blessing here take them down but do not exit the room for some reason the dregs and vandals will not come to you unless you start firing at them so just leave them alone the only enemy you need to worry about are the shanks which will spawn from time to time so be ready for them Use P&T or any good arc sniper and/or rocket launcher and fire away, remember the modifier is arc so you can take a few shots from Septicus with P&T took me 2 ammo packs and 7 rocket launcher shots. And your done! collect your 5 strange coins and enjoy.....( just kidding I got Crypt Dweller SR1 a Dead Orbit Legendary Scout Rifle- which promptly became energy to feed VoC) EDIT: The shanks have fire shields so be sure to have a secondary weapon equipped that has fire damage to quickly take them down again this is why VoC is a blessing.

    • Part 1: hide straight back from where you come in by tanker thing. Pew pew pew reavers and captains. Part 2: hide to right of giant spider tank thingy. Pew pew pew legs. Shoot red ball behind neck when it takes a nap. Part 3: hide in doorway where you enter. Pew pew pew giant eyeball thing. Throw sun balls at captain when he comes out of left room. Really not a hard one this week.

      • Get an arc primary to make it bearable? Part 1 (Dingletwat opening the passage): When you enter the room turn left and hug the wall, there is a long conntainer with its narrow end against the wall. Hide between the container and the wall. Kill enemies at your leisure, after 2nd wave there will be a cloaked vandal at the back right of the room you need to come out of you hidey hole to kill him and trigger the next wave. Part 2 (Devil walker): When you enter the area there is a building directly in front of you, stand on its roof, use shields for cover. Counter snipe the vandals and kill the walker from the roof. A vandal and a captain will spawn and jump up behind you, keep an eye on your radar, there are normal enemies and a good way to get ammo back. Keep an eye on the radar so they don't get you unaware. Part 3 (Septic Porn): There is a room to the left as soon as you enter the area , camp there. If you leave the room watch out for fallen ships as they 2 shot you and it's easy to not notice them. When grenades are thrown into the room, the corner at the top of the stairs is safe from the blasts.
