Horizon, The Vault, and a Solving of Riddles

For those of you trying to figure out the secrets that the vault may still hold, this thread is for you... A member of the community named Horizon has recently been posting frequently and cryptically about the vault of glass. In his thread The Collective he gives a slew of riddles about the vault he has posted over time, some of which we have solved, some of which we have not. I think I may be able to give answers to one or two of these (or at least a little insight), and if we can keep this thread organized and keep the comments/conversation constructive, I believe we as a community can answer the rest. Now, here are the riddles given by Horizon in The Collective thread as of the creation of this thread
1) Bestowed by the 3 lords you have a gift... a gift to speak in tune with time. Solution: When the 3 Plates (3 Lords )are successfully defended they will gift you a chime, if you're worthy (Not always) 2) She wants to dance She wants to sing Will you let her? You have the Cords but... can you match her hymn? 3) When the Crusader hides, use the junction of two rivers to see the impossible when/where the pawns meet the end of their board. Solution: The templar will cycle and during this use the VOC (the junction of two rivers) to hear and see clockwork by the Confluxes where the sacrifices (Pawns) trigger.(End on the board) Only then will you see and hear time. 4) Your body develops an immune system once exposed to certain, lets say in this case... element. Solution: Gorgons will develop an immunity to a specific element but also has a chance to develop others. Side Knowledge: The time it takes to kill a gorgon govens it's countdown for immunity. Taking 10 seconds to kill a gorgon will trigger an immunity for 5 seconds, etc. 5) Do as we did and do not strike the light, it was our demise, we did not have the strength. We took on the needle but it threaded through us, fusing us into the oceans of time... we were consumed. Our light however was not. Take our gift but if you feel worthy... strike him down as we did and in this... We only hope that you chose wisely. 6)Take the Plunge into the crystal abyss but soon, something you will find will be amiss... something that should not exist. 7) Transcend the limitation that you cannot fathom. Consume the dying light... accept inevitability that you will perish as did your antecedent. Standby at the Event Horizon and look to the Pillars of light towards the pinnacle of where you venture -TMOS 8) There are many and they are vast, they define and refine reality. When your light is at its apex they will become tangible. Break their Reality when they are Immeasurable. 9) Coming soon... I will update as frequently as i can. A gift... My final riddle is the 7th, solve it and I might return. Abhor might reset...
Riddle #2
She wants to dance She wants to sing Will you let her? You have the Cords but... can you match her hymn?
I'm inclined to say that she is the Templar. "She want's to dance"... the Templar is constantly trying to teleport all over the boss arena. "She want's to sing"... constantly spawing oracles that each make a specific tone. The "Will you let her?" part I believe has different meanings for the dancing and singing. Many of us know that we get the extra chest if the templar doesn't teleport, so we won't let her teleport. But, the last line hints that we should let her sing (can you match her hymn?). It's like horizon is daring us to let her sing. So we won't let her dance, but will let her sing. But how do we let her sing? First I would like to offer some (what I think is) clarity on the word "cords". Many believe this to be a typo of the word "chords" which is the spelling having to do with music. However, I refuse to believe that Horizon would be so careless with his spelling when he knows the whole community will be combing over his every word. So, lets assume he does mean "cords" and not "chords". Does it mean a cord like a cable or rope? Probably not, I can't make any connection to the vault of glass there. Maybe cord as in a bundle of logs? Definitely no connection there. I think that cords is an abbreviation of coordinates! Those of us who run the raid regularly know the location of the spawns of the oracles like the back of our hands, but we always just try to kill them as soon as they pop up. Given that they each have a specific tone, the order that we kill them seems to be the only way we can make a hymn out of it. I propose that to solve this riddle the oracles need to be killed in the order they spawned originally with each wave/set of oracles. Not every oracle spawns on every so if a raid team waits until all oracles in each wave are spawned then kills them in the proper order dictated by the Templar's original spawning pattern we can match her hymn and thus let her sing. Now it's possible that I have the ordering wrong here, but that's why I'm posting this on the forums to hopefully get some positive responses that can prove, disprove, or build upon this theory. However, I'm almost positive that my interpretation of the "cords" is correct. Riddle #5
Do as we did and do not strike the light, it was our demise, we did not have the strength. We took on the needle but it threaded through us, fusing us into the oceans of time... we were consumed. Our light however was not. Take our gift but if you feel worthy... strike him down as we did and in this... We only hope that you chose wisely.
This was one of the unsolved riddles, and I'm still pretty lost on this one too. He's talking about the needle so that means he's talking about Atheon. (the "vault of glass" grimoire card in the activities section specifically states "In the vault time frays and the needle moves through it. The needle is the will of Atheon.") The phrase "do not strike the light" is very vague and difficult to decipher. It could have something to do with the blue and red lights throughout the raid. Maybe it means not using Atheons crit spot throughout the fight. Maybe it's meaningless The line "Take our gift but if you feel worthy" is oddly phrased and makes me think there's some word-play going on. I wonder if it means don't take our gift if you feel worthy. Meaning if you feel worthy to undertake the most difficult challenge the vault has to offer (and thus the greatest rewards) take down atheon without the relics. Which makes sense with the next line "strike him down as we did" becuase kabr and his team didn't have the relics at their disposal as he became the relic. I'm pretty sure this wouldn't be possible to do with the normal way of completing the raid, but I remember hearing about some teams complaining that no one got sent through time and that it was a glitch. Maybe it wasn't a glitch at all and they had simply stumbled upon doing the raid the right way up until that point. Riddle #7
Transcend the limitation that you cannot fathom. Consume the dying light... accept inevitability that you will perish as did your antecedent. Standby at the Event Horizon and look to the Pillars of light towards the pinnacle of where you venture
This was hinted at by Horizon to be the most important of all the riddles and it certainly is interesting. The first paragraph of Atheon's grimoire card reads like this:
To speak of Atheon is to accept certain limitations. We are ill-equipped to understand an entity that defies simple causality. Let us accept these limitations and proceed.
So, it's safe to say the limitation that you cannot fathom is Atheon and transcending him would mean killing him. It could also have a double meaning where the limitation is time itself, and in the case where Atheon doesn't teleport your team through time at all (if it's not a glitch) your team opens the portal and one of you enters it transcending time. Then when you go through the portal, you will effectively mark yourself. To accept the inevitability you will perish could mean putting forth no attempt to cleanse yourself after you've been marked and let yourself and your screen be consumed by the darkness. An event horizon can be defined as the place where light and darkness meet. I believe this is referring to the back edge of the stage where it completely drops off into blackness. And I think the pillars of light refers to the two angled pillars (which are distinctly lighter in color than the rest of the stage) towards the top of the stairs that point towards both the sky and each other. And finally, putting this all together... if you do the perfect raid and get to Atheon so that he doesn't teleport you, you will have the opportunity to transcend time and Atheon himself (they seem to be one in the same) by using the portals to your own advantage (probably when he's almost dead). You will then get marked (consume the dying light and accept the inevitability of your screen going black), come back to Atheon and finish him off. Go up to the very back edge of the stage (the event horizon) look up to where the two pillars of light point... and in this wild, possibly farfetched theory, you will see the culmination of a perfect raid and reap the best of rewards. And... I maxed out the number of characters you can have on a post. Feel free to discuss. And stay constructive! We can do this! EDIT: heres a link to the original article http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/78764016/0/0

HORIZON!!!!!!!!!!!!! THESE DO WORK!!!! READ!!!! So a friend of mine and I have some ideas from the riddles Horizon has posted and other theories out there. We have all heard about how people have become immune to the Gorgon Gaze and we believe we have found out why, and we think it may be part of the missing puzzle with the gorgons, whatever that may be. So during the oracles before the Templar, we all know that you can get marked from the fanatics and oracles and cleanse in the well. What some people don’t know is that the well disappears after any certain person has been cleansed 3 times. Not many people know this since we all obviously try to not get marked. The idea we have and have seen is that if you can get each team member to be marked and cleansed 3 times in the light well. On the 3rd time getting cleansed, it will require some team work and careful planning since it despawns. We are hoping that we can be cleansed after becoming marked by oracles and the whole team just sit in the well for the third marking – we have NOT confirmed if this part works, if it does not, you will have to get marked by fanatics and work together on everyone getting cleansed at the same time. The grimoire cards clearly point to bathing in light and that it will cause immunity. If you can manage to get all of this done, and keep everyone alive and get to the Gorgon Maze, you SHOULD be immune to the gaze. It will still show the gaze, but you won’t die. This leads us to our second theory. The gorgons become stronger when you take one out and they become “immune” to that type of damage. Our thought is that their immunity is to all types of damage that was used to kill them, so you have each team member with immunity on and take out 1 gorgon at a time with ONLY a certain type of damage, void, solar, arc…. (3 cleanses equals 3 immunities) and then switch weapons for each new gorgon, it should trigger something once you have taken out 3 maybe all– at least we hope. I have seen several theory posts about a special gorgon showing up or something related to medusa. So maybe these two riddles that Horizon is referring to here, could be part of getting that gorgon to show. Feel free to post up with findings or anything. THESE ARE THEORIES AND NOT CONFIRMED OUTCOMES! We really arent 100% on what the part about using the vision during the templar, but we think the above has something to do with it. My GT on 360 is my username if anyone wants to go hunting! #doyoufeliz
