I originally thought the idea of using Hand Cannons during the Raid was preposterous. During the Conflux defense I decided to goof off and use mine. Little did I know, it wrecked goblins in a single critical shot!! Enemies don't seem as many, when they are disposed of so quickly.
During the Final Atheon, supplicants can be killed before they can make it off the Timegate.

Edit 3: Over 700 response!! Who's ready for the DLC content! Looking for info on Trials of Osiris Hand Cannon right now
4:I haven't used a Hand Cannon during the new raid yet. It seems impractical as Vex and VoC are the most effective so far; Vex more so. Firefly could backfire on Fatebringer given the aggressiveness of thralls.

Finally got my hands on the Dead Orbit Venation III. Mine rolled with Spray and Play with Rangefinder. The a middle skill tree has High Calibur Rounds with is very useful!!
-
How come there's not much talk about the devil you know. I haven't gotten any others but the chance and thorn but i like it much more than those. Where would you guys rank it next to the others being discussed in this thread?
-
Yeah man i was using thorn doing 1214 damage something like that
-
Hawkmoon and Thorn both were god tier with proper usage, I beat the raid with both prior to the buff. The fact that they made both a little better is all good with me. Thorn is probably even more awesome now.
-
Started using HCs a few weeks ago. My new v2.0 Thorn is great.
-
I was an auto rifle guy through and through until one fateful day when Hawkmoon dropped during a NF. It looked beautiful and sounded cool so I took it for a spin and holy moly was it love at first fight. I hate having to spam bullets to kill foes now when I can see their heads or guts explode with high impact crits. I'm just waiting on a Fatebringer to join the ranks of Hawkmoon, Thorn, TLW, TDYK, and Timur's Lash in my collection.
-
HORDES!!! Hordes of Thralls as I predicted for The Dark Below!!! I've been melting them with Vex Mythoclast, but another player was in fact using Fatebringer during the bridge builder phase. I haven't tried using a HC yet because the enemies are MUCH more complex than the vex. ITS CRAZY. I got Raid Boots and Gauntlets luckily on my first run though.
I will say, unfortunately, the hand cannon may not be as fun when ascending to Crotas chamber unless you have firefly. It's just intense after defeating the Ogres. Your groups have to be a wall of destruction.
Hand cannons are the only way to go
-
I'm a semi-recent user of hand cannons as well. Pretty much been exclusively so since the Hawkmoon dropped. Only use TDYK and HM during the raid depending on if I need to use P&T or not. I haven't really researched guns but now that I have I really want the Fatebringer.
-
Looks like I may not use fatebringer :(
-
Looking forward to the time I get each different legendary and Exotic hand cannon. I want one of every hand cannon and then I want to try them all in different scenarios to see which ones are good for each different scenario. Like a bag full of golf clubs.
-
Fatebringer is life.
-
My TDYK is taking a well earned rest. Timur's lash with field scout and performance bonus, 13 rounds and never short of ammo. Never considered this weapon as optimal for PvE, but I am loving it. Also switched to thorn for PvP.
-
I was a Hawkmoon lover until Fatebringer dropped. Maxed it a day later. You just can't beat the speed reload and enemies combusting after a critical hit.
-
I used thorn all the time for the normal raid before i reached 30 now i use suros for the hard raid and theres definitly a handicap when i use thorn now... example being that i have a hard time getting precision kills if you know what i mean ;)
-
I played with a painted big chief for a while. Then I got high lord fixer. It is the best legendary hand cannon in the game

Edited by Silent Killer: 12/3/2014 7:16:40 PMYea man... Using fatebringer really wrecks the hobgoblins and those vexs. Gunslingers master race! I solo'd the left conflux by myself using the fatebringer.
-
I just got TLW from the nightfall last night. Now after the buff it seems Thorn is clearly the better option. Am I wrong?
-
Fatebringer is THE raid hand cannon. The best with ammo and the firefly perk is priceless. If you use it and you're on the templars confluxes you should be on center patrol. All those vex trying to come up the steps just get blown away from the fireflies explosion. It's definitely a rewarding type of weapon. Not many bullets in the chamber so make them count!
-
Red Hand IX with explosive rounds is amazing in VoG. The only thing is that I use Vision of Confluence for the bonus oracle damage. Otherwise, hand cannon for everything!
-
Hand cannons are my favorite.
-
It really lives up to the quote on the gun haha. "Delivering the inevitable, one pull at a time"

Edited by a potato: 12/2/2014 3:14:19 AMI always get scoffs talking about hand cannon, but it's amazingly efficient at clearing mobs and mitigating large targets. HC critical are nearly triple that of a scout and dramatically reduce incoming fire quickly in strikes. Try hitting thrall crowds with thorn (it pierces). I've received medals I didn't know exist for things like multiple headshots with one bullet. Hand cannon headshots will stagger sword knights and take them down in 4-6 shots at even level. While I wouldn't advise the entire team having HC, having a couple people in a raid carry one makes a huge difference.
-
Will hand cannons be a problem against large hordes in the new raid? The vex enemies are characteristically slow, but Hive enemy behaviors are more diverse.
-
Totally had fate bringer drop after templar last night on hard raid then i immediately got hawk moon from the first chest after that fight. RNG was right on!!
-
Yeah a maxed Hawkmoon is boss with the crits. I hit over 2200.
