In their infinite wisdom, Destiny and Bungie have decided to release their update a day early to appease its customers. What most people don't realize is that it was not I. Fact to appease their customers but it was to coincide with the update of PSN servers. In case you are not aware, PSN will be updating their servers for a grand 7hours today. From 12pm/ET to 7pm/ET.
No big deal you say? Oh so wrong you are. If you are not one of the people who wake up at 6am to log onto Destiny or one of the people who don't have something better to do and can start playing Destiny before noon, then you will be stuck on the outside until they finish the PSN update.
As PSN is updating they have released that if you had logged on since November 13th the update would not affect you online play as your info would be cached. However, you cannot update or download anything from their servers during the update. Such is the issue so many of you now face with the dreaded BOAR error code.
So you attempt to fix it and look at Bungies many help threads on their errors. Alas...what are the instructions? "Make a new PSN account and download it on that one..." HELLLLLOOOOOO!!!!! PSN is down you can't do anything!
Needless to say we must ask ourselves more than one question:
1. If Bungie was able to release the patch early, how long have they had it ready?
2. Why coincide their update with the PSN update?
3. Why would you not warn your customers that unless you log in and download this by a certain time, you won't be able to play all day?
Good food for thought and I'm sure there are more questions.
