Thorn Bounty Help (500 Void Damage Guardians in the Crucible)
Original: Okay. So I'm terrible at PVP and need some help. I refuse to give up on the bounty if at all possible, but. It's so bloody annoying. If there's anyone out there with some time to spare (and willing to let me kill them for a bit) I've heard from a few sources that it's possible to do this in Rumble with five suicide players helping it along. Or, simply, if anyone has any advice?
Edit: After making this post and trying for a while longer I ended up trashing the bounty out of pure frustration. Within a few days I got the same bounty again but on my warlock. I figured, why not just give it another try? I ended up doing the crucible part in a few hours. Having a void subclass REALLY helps. Atheon's Epilogue is a must. So my advice for anyone doing this and [u]struggling[/u]; don't do it on a Hunter (like I tried to) because while yes it is possible, if you're struggling it's just not worth it; don't change your play style; play Control; try not to stress and take breaks if you hit a bad run. Don't feel bad about backing out of a game if a certain map isn't going to help you or the bounty. Listen to the advice other people give as (most of the time) it's relevant - and, if you're looking for advice you need to take it where you can. As long as your K/D is or above 0.5 you haven't lost any points. It is possible to do. (Have faith Guardians). So yes, I now have a Thorn. Have for a while now, but when this thread suddenly exploded I thought I'd best update it? I dunno. Anyway. Thank you to everyone who left advice here and for all the help.

3 RepliesHi there! I know this is hard but I really have FAITH on you, this may sound cheesy but trust me... you can do this. Yesterday I was so exited about getting my first exotic bounty in the game and when I read on different blogs and forums about this mission I was very disappointed and I was sure that this will be impossible to achieve. So I started with the first mission "Complete The Summoning Pits on the Moon." and this was really easy, so I move on the next one, killing 500 bastard hives, this one was kind of boring but piece of cake, and the my faith went to the floor when I read that I needed to get 500 points with void damage on crucible to complete it. Are you serious? 500 point and each kill gives me only 5 and if I die I get -2? Are you telling me that I need to kill 100 dudes who have much more ability than any boss on the game and that have no social life (like me)? Without dying? I try this one for two hours and I only managed to get 28 points, because it's not only the game time but also the time it takes to the game to find 12 players. So I went to sleep very disappointed because I thought I'll never get that amazing exotic weapon. I read a lot of tips and recommendations about playing on crucible and I managed to improve a strategy: First of all you need to get a weapon with void damage (obviously) I did this with a shotgun but I recommend using a fusion rifle. Also equip a heavy weapon that causes void damage it'll be very helpful when you get the heavy ammo. Then keep aside your fears of losing points and focus on killing some bastards, use your shotgun without aiming it and be patient about this. If you keep playing and trying, eventually you're going to improve your game, and that my friend... is a fact. I started killing like 6 or 8 dudes and get killed around 12 or 15 times witch means that I only get 15 or 10 points per game, at this rate I would completed the bounty after 50 games or so. But I keep playing and never gave up. Another tip I can give you is: If you gain little points in a match, leave the party and join another one, until you find one with worse players. This could take a little bit but be sure you're not losing more points than earning. And the key of doing this (and this will only work for hunters) is using your invisibility abilities, crouch whenever you can so you turn invisible and then, guided by your map look out for enemies and kill them as fast as you can. whit this "tips" I managed to completed de bounty on 3.5 hours, and believe me, by the end I killed 17 o 20 people and get between 30 and 40 points per match, so please don't give up and keep trying. I'm not saying it's simple but trust me it's not impossible. And if you still can't do this, I'll be happy to help you. 11 RepliesI know this is an OLD thread, I have had the bounty on this part for a LONG time. I am so-so as well in the Crucible. As of this post Im at 38. I heard if you go into Ruble with a full 3 person fireteam and just kill them over and over really helps. If anyone on PS4 needs help doing this part and is willing to help me as well, I really appreciate it. I recently started trying my hand at it again, with 365 swordbreaker/Chain of Orbiks-Fel, and 357 (soon to be 365) word of Crota.

I found that the best way is to find a hiding spot in the map and just use a shotgun, I know it sounds stupid but it works really well, using this method I got 201 points in a hour

I know this thread is old, I just received the bounty myself and would appreciate any help with the void crucible kills. Doing this on a hunter is ridiculous.

I SUCK at the Crucible and PvP in general, but being patient and persevering are what helped me complete this bounty. It took me 7 1/2 hours to get 500 points. While it's fun to run and gun with everyone else and be on the frontlines of combat, that strategy got me killed. I recommend playing Control and always try to "tag and lag" with your squadmates. In other words, let two or more sqaudmates lead the charge, you run behind them, and then get the easy chip shot kill as they take the brunt of the damage. Even if they get killed, the other opposing guardian will have reduced health so you can swoop in for the easy kill. Going it alone, unless you camp out in corners and near spawn points will get you killed if you're a terrible PvP player like me. I completed this bounty with a defender titan, aetheon's epilogue, swordbreaker, and truth. I peformed the best playing Control on Mercury by kneeling/squatting on top of the perch outside near the heavy weapon ammo spawn point near control points A & B. Kneeling kept me undetectable by radar, and I was able to hit guardians with rockets as they fought over control points A & B. Whenever someone would spot me, I would pop my bubble, and then blast them with my swordbreaker if they jumped into my bubble. Playing that map two times using that strategy netted me 159 points. I did play other maps, but I avoided the maps that kept me in close quarters. I say that to say "play to your strengths." Don't try to be someone you're not to complete this bounty. If you're not a sniper, don't snipe. I tried to run and gun with my shotgun in the beginnning and got myself killed rather quickly. The most important thing is to use the "buddy" system, and by all means stay alive. As long as your K/D ratio is greater than 0.4, you will make progress.

You have to do it legit. I ended up doing it with Atheon's Ep and judgment VI (void roll) and then truth. Just play control, don't bull rush, and know that assists are just as good as a kill
