Shaders for ships please!

Ok, let's say you're out on patrol. No where fancy, just dropping some Fallen off the moon, when you duck in a cave and find a loot chest. You think, "great, more glimmer and helium" when you notice this blue box along side the loot. Not really a blue box, but more like blueprints. "CONGLATULATIONS, YOU HAS NEW SHIP" may as well play, because as soon as you return to the tower, it's given to you free of charge. In no time, you're running up to your friends, showing off what Red Bull gave you, and you're all sorts of happy. That is, until you begin to notice that everyone's ship kinda looks the same. Maybe some slight changes here and there, like the wings are tilted upward, or the nose of the ship is a bit larger, but everyone's ship often has the same color scheme going on. And now, that new ship that you were all "JAZZ HANDS! JAZZ HANDS! JAZZ HANDS!" over, is just "... meh..." Why? Because what you thought was something rare, was really one of the many mass produced jump ships that's as unique as a drop of water. Oh look, A Rope to Heaven. Hey, nice Fangs of Nyx. What's that? Oh, just a Karuna Falling. Then someone comes in with a Regulus, a Kestrel, or a Phaeton of another color, and you start thinking "why can't my Eon Trespass be black and red?" Well, here's an idea, how about making it where your equipped shader also changes the color of your ship. Think about it. A Laughing Behind Your Back with the Jester Apogee shader. Some God of War with The Fangs of Nyx to make them fear her maw. Maybe try out how Undercity or Oracle 99 looks on the Rope to Heaven. Or maybe, just maybe, a Chatterwhite Eon Trespass. I don't know about you, but I think it would help add some diversity among the ships in the game. Maybe have it as a toggle option on the equipped ship, in case someone wants to keep the ship's original colors. That or maybe adding something of an apprentice to Holliday who could repaint your ship to match the shader you have equipped at that moment (for a modest fee of a few thousand glimmer, of course.) So, what do you guys think? Good idea, bad idea, or "who let this guy have the mic?"

Sure would love it. But please don't jump up and down in excitement for a function that a start up studio can pull off on a day one steam sale.
