Destiny and the Future

Destiny undoubtedly has the potential to be an epic game; the potential to be a game we talk about for years with sweet memories. When I first woke from the sleep of death in the dust of earth, I was amazed by this new world. The artistry within the game is truly beautiful. The shooting is fluid, dynamic, engaging. Destiny is terrifyingly addictive. Initially, I was enthralled and captivated by the magic of the game. However, it was not long before I realised that there is so much room for improvement. That is not a criticism, it is a commendation. Destiny makes us think and whets our appetite for more. This post therefore brings out some of my ideas for improving Destiny in updates and DLC. I still love this game, but it could be so much better and I would love to see some of these ideas realised in the game. Let me know what you think in the comments below. Like and give us a 'bump' if you agree. Cheers! Storytelling and Grimoire It goes without saying that most of the Bungie community were deeply disappointed by the lack of story within the game. It would be very difficult to improve the existing story within the game itself. Future storytelling however could be greatly improved by adding more cut scenes and some of that classic Halo style humour. Grimoire cards should be accessible within the game itself. The lore and back story is already there for players, but at the moment we have to leave the game to access it. This is frustrating for gamers. Why not have an in-game lore-codex or even make the Speaker into a lore master at the Tower? In-game Matchmaking and LFG systems I enjoy the strikes and fighting alongside three other random Guardians perhaps more than any other aspect of this game. I was frustrated to find a lack of matchmaking for the higher level strikes. It seems bizarre that Bungie, the masters of matchmaking, should exclude this aspect. With respect to the raids, not everyone has an army of geeks on hand to call upon in their time of need. There needs to be some sort of in-game LFG system/space to form the teams to take on the raid. It seems strange that such a social game lacks the in-game features to make it a truly great community experience. I know that the forums are full of people LFG. Why not put something in the game to help resolve this problem? Variety is the spice of life Once you reach level twenty, the grind kicks in. You basically have to repeat the same content over and over in order to progress to the highest levels. I am an RPG player by nature and enjoy the grind, but not all players do. Even I became disillusioned at times and have entertained blasphemous thoughts of giving up and handing the people of earth over to the darkness. Variety is the only answer to this problem. Vary the nature of story missions, give us more strikes, more PvP maps, more public events, a greater variety of bounties and patrol missions. Personalised Customisation We definitely need more colour shaders for our guardians. I’ve notice that most higher level Guardians all look very similar to each other. Let us be unique, different. Let us make a fashion statement. Ships and sparrows could do with a renovation shop for adding colour and badass patterns. Poo brown ships are not cool. I have a few in my collection now. Voice Chat and Clan Halls Why is there no option voice chat in the tower, on patrol, during strikes, and with your PvP team? Isn’t this game designed to encourage communication and cooperation? How can we do this with only the options to point, wave, sit, and boogie? (I like to boogie). In-game Clan Halls would be useful. This would make your Guardian feel like he belongs to a group of Guardian brothers. No longer would the random strike player be a faceless man, he would be my brother in arms. Let us band together! Vehicles Sparrow racing like podracing on Star Wars would be awesome to see. Space battles using our ships would be even cooler. We can dream. Realistically, it would be good to see more useable enemy vehicles in-game as well. Halo gave you the option to use all manner of ships, tanks, racers ... why not have this in Destiny? Where are the guns for our sparrows? I want to shoot things as I race around Venus! The Subclass I would like to see a button which allows you to switch quickly between your subclass. It is frustrating having to use the menu during a fight. It would be cool to see a third subclass with new powers for each guardian. There have been rumours that something like this will be implemented in future DLC. Any word on this Deej? New Planets, New Missions, New Enemies No more needs to be said. Give us Mercury; give us the moons of Saturn. Give us new enemies and bosses in keeping with the nature of the planet. The current enemies could do with an improvement to their AI or at least with regard to how they spawn (Oh look! They all come out of that hole in the wall ... every time). Commerce and Trade Trading is a must. It is crazy that we cannot trade with fellow guardians. Trading would bring a spice and dynamic to the Tower like a busy London market. Of course, you don’t want a black market. I’m sure you geniuses can think of something. Xur should sell ordinary materials (10 per 1 strange coin) and ascendant materials (1 coin per material). Not all of us have the time or patience to go farming again and again. At least make materials spawn more frequently on the various planets or let them be rewards for strikes and PvP. The Gunsmith needs to sell something of interest to higher level players or he is going loose business. Think about his wife and children ... How will they make ends meet? More uses for glimmer and motes of light. Motes of light are basically pointless at the moment. Glimmer is useful for next to nothing at higher levels. Where am I? Why can’t we access a map when on patrol? Not all of us are homing pigeons. Exotics and Storage Sometimes I feel that my legendaries are more powerful than my exotics. Give us stronger exotics with more badass sex appeal. I have a few exotic weapons but I can only use one at a time. At least let us equip two. What’s the point in doing an exotic bounty for a weapon we can’t use? I can understand why not with exotic gear because of the levelling system and all that jazz, but not with the weapons. Give us vault space for collectors. The vault is far too small for some players, especially the OCD collecting kind. The Cryptarch and Crucible Rewards He is so evil! He never gives us what we want. He mocks us with his wicked smile. He has us hooked on his dastardly RNG. There are some days when I think he is purposely trying to depress me and other days when I just want to KILL HIM. I know you’ve made him a little nicer, but how about making him even more generous once in a while? Crucible rewards should be given to every Guardian who fights for honour and glory. This would encourage me to play more often. I want to know that a reward is guaranteed. The Guardians who play very well — those who get lots of kills and a high K/D — should be rewarded with better items. The best players should get the best rewards. It would also make sense to occasionally reward us with the materials relevant to the setting of each map. Yes, you got me, I hate farming. Iron Banner & Queen's Wrath Why don’t you make these playable all the time? It would be a simple and easy step toward improving variety in the game. I understand that the developers are under a lot of pressure. I know that Deej is swamped with pleas from hundreds of Guardians. I just hope that some of these ideas are realised in the current game via updates and DLC. ‘It is not in the stars to hold our Destiny but in ourselves’ (Shakespeare).
