Spacious and Vertical map design (Crucible)

Even though I'm quite glad of how the Crucible turned out, I have my gripes with it. I want more verticality to it. More space, too, maybe (Even though with more verticality, more space would just be given). I know that taking a more "realistic" approach makes many maps more maze-y and kind of claustrophobic at places, and it's a price to be paid, at least sometimes. A wise person once said that the reason why the AR-Shotty combo is so popular is in the map design. The amount of close-to-medium-mid-range firefights is much higher than the amount of mid-to-long range encounters. Thus, having weapons that specialize in under medium-mid-range and close range encounters is advantageous in most situations because most gunfights happen in this spectrum. In Halo (I know, I know), the verticality of the maps and the generally more spacious design made the precision weapons always the first choice. In Destiny, the more packed design makes the firefights more close-quarters, thus making the weapons with the most DPS for short ranges (Shotgun, AR and Fusion Rifles) better in most situations compared to the smaller DPS precision weapons. The main reason why I want bigger / more vertical maps is not because I want AR:s and other closer-range weapons to disappear from the game, but because I want variety. I want maps where I can fully utilize all the platforming skills I've attained from PvE, or do huge leaps of faith just to melee that guy, snipe guys from up high, that kind of stuff. Where's our Sword Bases, Constructs, Headlongs, Sanctuaries? I ain't saying you gotta make it like Halo, because I like Destiny just fine. I just think that using our jetpacks and double jumps to get over 2 meter high stepping stones is kind of putting them to waste. Having these abilities should give us more freedom to explore the maps, but they don't, really (In my opinion, at least). Thought exercise: Imagine Shores of Time, definitely one of the better designed maps in the game, but make the roofs of the buildings accessible. It would change the map tremendously, because most of the situations would be accessible from all directions. Defending the zones in Control becomes much harder, thus enforcing more aggressive play. /thought exercise Again, I ain't saying every map should have more verticality, I'm just saying that such maps would enrich the experience. Thank you if you read it all. Am I just plain wrong? Was the Wise person not so wise? Comment below would you rather have the maps stay horizontal, or would you like the game go more vertical. TL;DR? I want verticality to the Crucible because it makes the possible solutions to a firefight more varied and gives more flexibility to the range of firefights.
