"Earned" vs RNG
Im just tired of people saying they "earned" the Vex mytho or they "earned" this and that. When it comes to RNG, "earned" no longer applies.
Did I earn the dollar bill i found on the side of the road? No. I got lucky that it was dropped around the time i was there.
People make the claim "i do the raid on hard every week with 3 characters! I EARNED my mythoclast!"
Again, no. You didnt. Because 10 other people may have been done it 3x as much as you and never gotten it...because its RANDOM! In fact, there is the possibility (though extremely rare) that due to RNG you could NEVER get it!
Now, if there was something like "beat the raid 10 times with 3 characters and get the mytho" yes!! That would be EARNING the vex mytho (or any other item you want)

Problem is, let's assume you have to be highly skilled to get exotic gear. You're already OP. Then you get a disaster-blaster. You are now a god, raining fire and brimstone down upon us lesser mortals. We will complain. We will squeal "you've turned this one guy into Phogoth 2: Phog 'em all" and your finely pixelled boom stick will be nerfed. The chance to get cool gear without having to ascend to Valhalla first is important, for many reasons. One is play value: why should my purchase be dull at the expense of elitists? Another is population, because if I was offered no chance whatsoever of a reward for being target practice for ten minutes, I simply wouldn't go near the crucible. Neither would fifty percent of the players. Then you'd have nobody to play with, and spend hours in matchmaking like DCUO. A better alternative might be that weapon SKINS become exclusive prizes for elite players, setting you apart at least in appearance , like post nightfall flames.

I earn all 3 of my vex mytho. Why u asked? Cuz I beat hard mode 48 times. So -blam!- a rng I say I earn them even tho I mainly use my faithbringer hand cannon cuz it's boss. I still earn all my vex

There's a degree of earning something. I would say at least someone who's gotten the vex through legitimately killing atheon, however many times, earned at least the chance for it to drop.

1 ReplyI'd like to think that if I did the hard raid 34 times with the same fireteam and some of them got the vex twice and then I finally got mine, then I'm pretty sure I earned it

RNG doesnt require skill, this is true, I've seen it give all or nothing to first timers and veterans. Now to put it this way may be better. The privilege to have the chance to get RNG items is earned, I understand that people can be carried but if you have a team of underprepared players you will not succeed. That being the case you will not have earned the loot rolls at that moment. Just another way to look at it.

2 RepliesTo 'carry' a 29 through the hard raid who came equipped with a hand cannon and shotgun and no synthesis to then watch him die before the first atheon teleport and get rewarded with the mythoclast, helmet and sparrow was a bit of a kick to the stomach. Especially as most others inc myself got some more of those lovely shards and a new shade of chatterwhite for my chatterwhite to dress in. Its not a case of earning them as I enjoy the game, just a bit more common sense with regards handing the best loot out such as minimum kills before you qualify for certain items. Better than a kick in the teeth!

I agree 100%...i just started doing the hard raids within the past month and i just got the mythoclast this week. Its all rng and it has nothing to do with skill and how much you play. Iron banner was the only true way to earn gear so far. Heck...back when you could cheese the end boss a couple of my buddies found people with the end checkpoint and got the mythoclast first or second try. I just laugh at these players on the forum talking like they earned everything because they were dumb enough to play the raid a hundred times or more. Its just not the case in this game.

As long as you didn't use exploits I feel like you earned the random piece of equipment given to you. Just my opinion :)

I won't say that people who have put in the time on the raid, coming back week after week and finally getting the drop haven't earned it. They definitely have. I submit that those people who do the same thing and never get anything but shards also have earned it though. Therein lies the real issue.

4 RepliesTry beating atheon hard finally with decent team took 3+hours lastnight and got shader and damn bike .............fml!!! Been working on him for days to finally get shafted thanks bungie. So i add this to your statement at some point all the time and effort spent in vog makes EVERYTHING you get from the raid earned. Example friend helps beat atheon on hard on his first vog hard run gets vex ok he did earn it athoen is tough. I play athoen every week and finally manage to kill him after running raid 20+times and over 10k kills in vog with a k/d over 10.5 everydamn thing i get from vog is earned now. Most players dont have 4k in vog

1 ReplyAgree. You have 13 raid completions with a level 30... I have done the raid about 20 times with my hunter, still missing one raid piece.

I've done the hard raid more then 12 or 14 times only hard raid item I got was the titan helmet.. My brother Did it 6-7 and got praetorian foil, the timepiece, vex mythoclast( which he got when he was carried when he did the hard raid for the first time)... All he needs is the rocket, hand cannon, and I think that's it....

1 ReplyI think they should have legendary bounties, for light lvl 30 armour engram's. That way they could just up the light level of some existing armours, giving more variety of lvl 30 characters. However make the armour perks far Superior on raid gear, also give out a sweet mark,cloak,band on raids. Everyone's happy.
