Hey Guys, I don't post often, but I just read about the DLC and I feel that it may be a pretty good improvement to the game, hence Bungie getting a few redemption points from me. I love the game of Destiny and I play it every day. I, like most people, feel that the story wasn't as good as it could have been, but I also feel that the story being as it was leaves so many doors open to improve Destiny in MANY ways. I can see how these first 3 months of Destiny that we have been playing was kind of like a "Trial Run" after the Beta to see what the opinions of Millions of players are to improve the game in ways that the players may want. There are many players out there that wanted to see a FULL story line and game from the Starting Line, but in my opinion the way that it is being done will make it so players have more of a say-so to the direction that Bungie could take. The fact that they are giving DLC after just 3 months from the game release helps to show that they are trying to follow the Gamers' ideas as much as possible by slowly doing what the Gamers want/ask for/expect. Granted, they could have started out a bit better than they did as far as the story line is concerned, and I hope that the DLC puts a few pieces together with the 3 new story missions being introduced. A lot of people feel that this game ripped us off due to the lack of content for the $60 to $90 price tag (depends if you bought the limited edition), but if everyone is still playing today then they have more than gotten their money worth since: a) we don't have to pay a monthly fee like most other online games; b) play a game that is stunning as far as the graphics and sound are concerned; and c) have paid $60 bucks or more on crap that hasn't given near as much entertainment as this game has. Everything I am posting is just my opinion and I may not have all the facts straight since I get most of my information off the majority of opinons I read posted on these forums, and what little bit of news that Bungie announces. I am sorry if this offends anyone, I am just posting this "opinion" to see what others truly think of the DLC without the rant about how BAD the story line was or any of that type of thing since we have heard it all already. I still thouroghly enjoy Destiny and I honestly think I have gotten $60 worth of game, and I am hopeing "Fingers, Toes, and everything else crossed" that Bungie redeems themself a bit with the DLC as far as the story is concerned. I like that they are adding 3 Crucible arenas, 3 Story Missions, another Strike, and another Raid; I just hope that it is worth it enough to where others feel that Bungie is trying to correct its mistake. Anyway, thanks for reading my post, I don't post often so I apologize if I posted some crappy stuff, lol. Rant on me if you like, support this post if you like as well, not sure how all that works. ANY AND ALL OPINIONS ARE WELCOME!!! I look forward to reading everyone's responses.

  • Agreed on all points. I'm tired of hearing the "ripped off" whining. Because EVERY player who's been gaming for any lenght of time has made a BAD game purchase. A game that you thought looked good, but you played it once...and it left you flat, or it just wasn't what you were hoping for. That's life. That's not getting "ripped off". That's just having made a bad decision. Trade it in....learn your lesson and move on. Even worse are the complaints of people who seem to expect an endless stream of new things to do for less-than-a-tank-of-gas. When most MMO players are shelling out monthly subscription fees...and still aren't getting that. But the biggest problem Bungie faces with Destiny is that they are trying to combine two types of games----an idea that works well----but that attract VERY different types of gamers, with VERY different personalities, and VERY different expectations. Those complaining about the "story" are FPS gamers who want a clear, simple, scripted narrative like the single-player campaings they are used to. Not realizing that this doesn't work well in a open-world, MMO style game. Those complaining about the "lack of cotent" are MMO/open-world gamers who want the freedom they are used to...but dont' realize that this doens't work in a game built around an on-line FPS mechanic. As the disastrous rollout of the most recent raid patch showed, FPS are VERY UNFORGIVING of even minor programming mistakes. Because only a few milliseconds makes the difference between a happy gamer...and one who is quitting because the game is unplayable. But then anything that seeks to "fuse" different things like this....goes through this. Because people compare the result to what they are familiar with...rather than looking at this new things on its own merits. So Destiny gets compared to Borderlands...even though BL doesnt' take place in a persistent world. It gets compared to Halo when Halo didn't have to deal with a persisent world, an open world OR with RPG character progression. Destiny get's compared to MMOs...when I can't think of any MMO that has to contend with the programming difficulty and space requirements of creating ---and maintaining----a FPS play mechanic. But all in all. Destiny is a very good game. Just a game that was never going to live up to the mountain of disparate expectations that got heaped upon it.
