Dark Damage Types, Fourth Subclass Speculation
Ghost: You're not a Guardian. Stranger: No, I was not forged in light
I have a theory. You may like it, you may not. It broke a spark after I saw The Dark Below Expansion details Bungie released. -When I opened up the page and read more into it, I came to realize a couple hints for the future. Besides the obvious: new armor, gear, missions, strikes, raid; two features stuck out to me. 1) Below the image of the new multiplayer map SkyShock, to the left, there is a scene including two warlocks and what looks to be casted lightning. If that is true, then the Subclass leak must be coming in this next update.
Link to the Youtube Video about the contents of the subclass leak: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hy-UJsqvHHQ Link to a previous thread of mine covering future subclasses: http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/72545227 Just to break it down a little bit, the leaked information confirms almost all of my speculations I've made before hand; so I trust the leak to be true enough.
2) The new Awoken character who the story missions are based around, Eris, is conjuring an image of a fireteam inside her green flame. This leads me to an Idea I had before hand. What if there were Dark subclasses? If there are Dark subclasses, they must be parallels to the Light subclasses. -Why do I think this? The Guardian look-a-like you encounter, known as The Stranger, states that she is not forged in light; so she was either forged in darkness or forged in neutral matters. Also to keep in mind: Eris, the new character appearing in the upcoming expansion The Dark Below ---------- Here's where it gets fun. (more or less) We know of the three element types of light: Solar, Arc, and Void. The green flame that I'm seeing an awful lot of looks to be the parallel to Solar damage. (figure that one out) I've noticed certain weapons have a green flame like aura such as Thorn and Bad JuJu. When you hit an enemy with Thorn's Mark of the Devourer, you see a green effect over the enemy that does damage over time. This is not considered any known Element type, and is marked as Kinetic. Also note when a Wizard summons his dark fog on you, you are damaged with Poison. So If we put this into a list... Kinetic: basic damage caused from movement. Solar: usually causes burning, which is damage over time. Arc: the Arc melee attacks mostly just increase the damage, so I guess this would be just a buff. Void: melee attacks of Void damage have interesting perks, grenade regeneration, overshields... Dark Solar(Poison): I assume this would be the green flame/poison, also damage over time. Dark Arc(Cold): increased damage like its parallel? Dark Void(Emptyness): special perks like its parallel? That leaves 7 types of damage. Bungie would be so proud... The only problem is we may not need these extra element types. -Yes, there is room for Dark Elements in the game of Destiny. No, the game does not need such things. If this next expansion, The Dark Below, includes the 3rd subclass for each Guardian class; then the next expansions will have a lot to compensate for. Maybe they could add in one new Anti-Element subclass to each class every expansion. I believe adding 3 new elements would increase the game overall. It would definitely add more into the gameplay; and more importantly fill in the gaps the next expansions will leave. ---------- (if you managed to read this far) Is this nothing more than a over thought speculation? Could this be a reality? What do you think? Tell me what I could add in.
A brief summary for everyone who has trouble reading posts -Eris uses green fire. Wizard's fog hits poison damage. Thorn does green damage. Third subclass coming in The Dark Below expansion. maybe the House Of Wolves expansion will include fourth subclasses? Fourth subclass means there needs to be more element types. 3 new Dark side elements? • I wish it was like mass effect or kotar and you could choose your alignment. Light or dark. "Dark guardians" (because I don't have a name for them) or maybe "rogue Guardians" (because it sounds badass) anyway these rogues are not allies to earth and it's colonies or the darkness. They thrive in the run down wasteland that is earth. They take out hits on light guardians (pvp patrol). They are mercenaries, they do not gather at the tower. To go dark maybe it starts out like some kind of exotic bounty, with annoying tasks and it leads into intense story missions where you betray the speaker and the vanguard. Maybe you work for the awoken on the reef. After you do the missions you can decide to go dark or rogue, or stay with the light. There if chosen you are awarded your first piece of dark armor. Then from there out you could get bounties on your head from the light guardians and vice versa. All armor loot you would receive would have dark points instead of light. Idk I've got a big imagination and I kinda wish they did this originally. Really think about it, not everyone on earth wants the government to survive, they want to see them burn.
