How To Change Xur to Please the Masses
Have Xur sell exotic bounties for the weapons and armor instead of the weapon itself except make these bounties incredibly hard.
Make the bounty challenges:
-Complete nightfall solo
-Break down 5 legendary weapons of that type
-Get a 15 kill streak in the crucible
-Get an quadruple down in the crucible (4 kills at once, if that's what it's called)
-Reach Vanguard Rank 5
-Complete a raid in under an hour
-Complete a raid without dying
These are just examples of how to make the exotic class items actually challenging to get instead of just getting them through the RNG system.
The exotic armor engram would stay how it is.
All of this "you'll get everything eventually" style of gaming needs to go. Stop catering to all the little pussies (and big pussies) who shouldn't even be playing these games in the first place.
EDIT: For the casual gamers,
Half the bounties could be made grinding bounties but with more parts to the bounties instead of just 3 like the current ones have. Also each grind would take longer. Like kill 1000 guardians in the crucible. It can't be an overnight thing.

what if he only sold exotic weapon engrams? With the system fixed to only give weapons of the same color engram, this would fix the issue of everyone complaining about how all the players now have the same weapon. Bungie is clearly in love with the rng system, so why not make it apply to Xur's weapons? With that said, IMO Xur in his current state is the counter balance to the RNG system. With hours of grinding and luck need to get a yellow, let alone a purple engram drop, this but many of the casual players (ie college kids, parents, full time workers) at a disadvantage. This casual gamer group is the main source of money for gaming companies, and they need to offer some way for them to earn gear other than grinding. Saving up coins for two or more weekly lvl 28's is how a casual can get the gear, which is time wise is comparable to 6 hours or more of grinding strikes or patrols to get an engram drop and even then you may not get one. Xur offers a balance to the RNG system. And for those who may think I support Xur because I used him to get my gear, I recieved hard light from the night fall last month, Ice breaker from a tyger strike, and lucky raspberry from a engram on a patrol. I did purchase the crest of alpha lupi and the hunter helm from xur though.

3 RepliesXur should only sell certain exotics. The rest should be earned through bounties or the Rng system. This way all the special different little snowflakes can still be special in there mommies eyes.

So you want the gear intended for everyone to wield to only to the hardcores like yourself who rush all the content and then move on because there's nothing else to do because your Hardcore status dictated you needed to be the first to get stuff done. Here's an idea. You get over the sense of entitlement and let Xur do his thing.

I've seen this idea about a dozen times. It's unnecessary. Xur is fine just the way he is, people need to get over their special snowflake complexes and then realize that Exotic does not mean rare. It means the weapon / armor has perks or abilities that lesser items in the same class do not have, that's all. If Bungie wanted Exotics to be ultra rare, they would have never put Xur in the game, it wasn't a mistake nor an oversight. Xur is one of the very few ways to counter the terrible RNG system in this game and if they removed / changed him substantially people would be right back on here crying about not getting the Exotic they want, or in the case of this idea crying about how hard the bounty is or how it's unfair. The only thing that needs to change is the mindset of the players that are continually complaining about him. Xur has been coming faithfully every week since September 9th and will continue to do so, it's time to get over it and accept that he's here to stay.

Only thing I can think of changing to Xur is how many strange coins you need, 23 seems too low to me and 17 for a special and heavy? Ridiculous.

Hate and whine posts just get the most attention on here likely making it seem like the number of people hating and whining is much higher than it actually is but I can assure you the whiners are the minority

I agree about the bounties. My only issue is if it is something like kill 50 guardians with a shotgun then everyone will be running around with shotguns for the next week or so. I never use a shotgun but if I had to for an exotic I really want then I would. I think they should just make everything more expensive. Like 50 strange coins for a gun.

I think Xur is find the way it is, maybe raise the price slightly. A player has to grind hard in order to earn those strange coins to buy that gear. So yes I do feel that I earned the gear I got from Xur.

I'm tired of this stigma of "oh I earned the Voidfang Vestments (as an example) before Xur sold it" because one, no one gives a flying monkey shit and two, you didnt earn it mother-blam!-er you were just lucky. This game is ran by randomness, even the final boss in the raid is involved in the randomness. People who buy the game have every right to play it whether its casual or competitive and I say this for all video games, not just Destiny.

I don't think that Xûr's bounties should be more difficult than the real ones. That would put in an even harder system rewarding non-casul players even more than he does now because non-casuls already get more strange coins. Plus, the 15 kill streak would be a nightmare. I know it's just an example, but imagine all the campers in the crucible every Friday
